Weeknd Review: How Super Eagles Players Performed At The Weekend



Super Eagles stars returned to league actions after the International break wherein they Nigeria Senior National team played, Central Africa Republic, in a double header, in one of the African World Cup qualifiers series.

It was an exciting time for the players in the league during the weekend, some propelled their sides to big wins, some increased their goal tally whilst the others had a bad day in office.

Below is an review of how most of the Nigerian Super Eagles players performed at the weekend.

1. Troost-Ekong (Watford, England)
It was a complete bad day for the Nigerian Super Eagles assistant Skipper as his defence marshalled line couldn’t contend rampaging Liverpool striker’s.

Troost-Ekong played all 90mins as his side were Pummled by five unreplied goals.

2. Dennis Emmanuel (Watford, England)
The winger faced a bad day in office alongside fellow compatriot, Troost-Ekong, as they suffered a heavy defeat against Liverpool.

3. Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England)
The Super Eagles and Junior international world cup winner enjoyed a big win at the Weeknd as his side bagged a win against Manchester United.

Kelechi had his name on the assist book in his side big win.

4. Leon Balogun (Rangers, Scotland)
The big centre featured for all 90min for his Scottish side at the weekend as they were held to a stalemate against, Hearts.

4. Jamilu Collins (Paderborn, Germany)

The Super Eagles left full back was in action for his German side as his team quest for promotion suffered a dent as they played out a (1-1) draw agains, Regensburg.

5. Ola Aina (Torino, Italy)
Aina and his teammates were faced with an uphill task of stopping in-form compatriot, Victor Osimhen, from scoring. All efforts was abortive as the striker netted a late minute goal.

6. Frank Onyeka (Brentford, England)
Fran ‘The Tank’ and his English side suffered defeat at the Weeknd as they were piped at home by Chelsea. Frank lasted for all 90mins.

7. Innocent Bonke (Malmo FF, Sweden)
The rugged defensive midfielder was present and contributed immensely to his side win away from home against Ostersunds.

8. Joe Aribo (Rangers, Scotland)
The Midfielder and his teammates effort weren’t enough to return the team to wining ways as they were forced to a (1-1) draw against, Hearts.

9. Alex Iwobi (Everton, England)
Alex missed out the party during the international break owing to an injury but the attacking midfielder made a return at the weekend in his side disappointing home defeat against, West Ham.

10. Chidera Ejuke (CSKA Moscow, Russia)
The dashing winger who shone like a million stars during the international break with the Super Eagles continued his impressive form at club level as he netted his side winning goal away from home against, Ural.

11. Moses Simon (Nantes, France)
Moses and his french side were fortunate to salvage a point against, Boredeaux, as they continue their impressive form.

12. Samuel Chukwueze (Villareal, Spain)
After 5months on the sideline, Chukwueze came in as a second halve Substitute in his side disappointing home lose against, Osasuna.

13. Ahmed Musa (Karagumruk, Turkey)
Musa was instrumental to his side big win at the weekend in one of the matches played in the Turkish topflight league at the Weeknd.

15. Paul Ebere Onuachu (Genk, Belgium)
The Genk striker fired blank in his side away lose at the weekend, Onuachu squandered the chance of adding to his goal tally as he missed from the spot.

16. Victor Osimhen (Napoli, Italy)
The big talisman showed his worth once more as he came through for his side with a match winning goal at a time hope was lost.

17. Calvin Bassey (Rangers, Scotland)
The new boy who got his first call up at the concluded International break was an unused Sub in his side draw at the weekend.

18. Chidozie Awaziem (Alanyspor, Turkey)
Awaziem’s Alanyspor continued its winning streak as they recorded a massive win in a 8goals thriller in the game played on Monday night.

19. Kenneth Omeruo (Leganes, Spain)
The big centre back was served a bitter birthday present at the weekend as his side lost woefully at the weekend.

20. Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin, Germany)
The Union Berlin striker increased his goal tally at the weekend, a goal which helped his side to a win at home.

21. Okoye Maduka (Sparta Rotterdam, Netherlands)

The Nigerian first choice goalkeeper failed to keep a clean sheet but still came through for his side with outstanding, brilliant saves that kept the game level at full time.

Joshua Akpudje: Rock-Solid Nigeria Defender Listed In Erovnuli Liga TOTW



Highly rated Nigerian defender, Joshua Akpudje, has been listed in the Erovnuli Liga Team Of The Week following his stellar performance in FC Dinamo Tbilisi 2-0 home win over Samgurali.

Akpudje and his FC Dinamo Tbilisi side squared up against Samgurali in its first Matchday of the season hoping to start on the front foot with a victory when the two sides lock horns at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.

The keenly contested fixture had the host, FC Dinamo Tbilisi opening scoring at the 10th minute and doubled its lead at the 32nd second goal to end the first half infront and all maximum points at full time.

Rock-solid Nigerian defender, Joshua Akpudje, who lasted for all 90mins in the fixture was a beauty to watch as he marshaled the team backline expertly to ensure a win with a clean-sheet.

Joining FC Dinamo Tbilisi, Joshua Akpudje heartwarming display in the fixture against Samgurali earned him a place in the team of the week alongside other players who were outstanding with their various clubs.

Weekend Review: Nine (9) Nigerian Stars Who Found Back Of Net



Actions resumed over the weekend across many leagues as teams continue their quest for domestic and continental glory in various Matchdays.

In over a thousand games played across top leagues at the weekend, Nigerian players were outstanding with their various clubsides and here are (9) Nigerian stars who found back of the net at the weekend.

1. Chidera Ejuke (Royal Antwerp, Belgium)

The Nigerian ‘magician’ was in his usual element as he scored and bagged assists to help Royal Antwerp clinch a 3-0 win.

2. Rasheed Sodiq (Rabotinick, Macedonia)

The Nigerian defender came through with a goal to help Rabotnicki Skopje secure a win at home.

3. Terem Moffi (OG Nice, France)

The Nigeria Super Eagles star scored his side only goal in their 2-1 defeat to Tolouse.

4. Boluwatife Ogungbayi (Slavia Praha, Czech Republic)

The highly rated forward fired in a brace to help Slavia Prague B clinch a 3-0 against Admira Prague.

5. Ahmed Abdullahi (Genk, Belgium)

Red-hot Ahmed Abdullahi in his scoring element scored twice to help Jong Genk down Royal Antwerp B at home.

6. Aliyu Ibrahim (Houston Dynamo, USA)

The Nigerian winger opened his goal account in the new season regardless his side 2-1 lose.

7. Effiong Nsungusi (FC Neftchi Fergana, Uzbekistan)

Nsungusi started off life with, FC Neftchi Fergana, on the front foot as he fired a brace to inspire the team win.

8. Olakunle Olusegun (FC Krasnodar, Russia)

The Nigerian striker opened scoring for his side to earn the team a point in their 1-1 stalemate.

Nigeria Striker, Leke James Bags Degree In Business Management



Nigeria forward, Leke Samson James, has completed his Business and Sports Management course at the, University of Hertfordshire in United Kingdom.

James follows in the footstep of former Nigeria International, Seyi Olofinjana, Nigeria Super Eagles midfielder, Ndidi Wilfred as well as Nigeria Super Falcons duo of Rasheedat Ajibade and Uchenna Kanu. who bagged degrees in same discipline.

He started out his career in his native homeland playing for Bridge Boys.

He transferred to Aalesund on 6 January 2012,

On 26 July 2012 he made his first appearance for Aalesund coming on as a substitute at the start of the second half of the game versus Tirana in Europe League scoring twice in Aalesund’s 5–0 win. On 29 July 2012 he made his debut in Tippeligaen and also started his first match, against Stabæk.

Between 2016 and 2017 he played for Chinese club Beijing Enterprises Group in China League One.

On 30 April 2018, Molde FK announced the signing of James on a three-year contract.[2] He got his Molde debut on 26 July 2018 when he came on as a 67th minute substitute in Molde’s 3–0 win against Laçi in the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League second qualifying round. James scored Molde’s third goal in the game

On June 2019, James scored a perfect hat-trick in the first half in Molde’s 4–0 away win against Strømsgodset.[3]He scored with his right foot, left foot and his head and completed his hat-trick in 13 minutes and 45 seconds. On 11 July 2019.

After a short spell in the Saudi Pro League, James joined Süper Lig club Sivasspor on a two-year on 14 July 2021.[6]

On 30 December 2021, James scored two goals in Sivasspor’s 2–1 win over MKE Ankaragücü in the fifth round of the Turkish Cup.[7] Sivasspor would eventually defeat Kayserispor in the final to secure the club its first major honour.[8]
