WCQualifiers: Nigeria Super Eagles Players Ratings



Hope of Nigeria Senior National team, Super Eagles, featuring in Qatar 2022 World Cup was handed a big boost as the Gernot Rohr tutored side clinched maximum points against, Central Africa Republic, in Cameroon.

Little known Central Africa Republic threw the Nigeria Super Eagles team into panic as they left it late to hand the Gernot Rohr tutored side a painful defeat right infront of their fans and supporters club.

Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr, was forcefully pushed back to the drawing board aftermath the defeat and the Franco-German gaffer returned with minor changes in the Starting XI.

Super Eagles skipper who officially made his 101 appearance in the colours of the national team took the place of Chidera Ejuke in the starting line up whilst Sparta Rotherham goalie, Maduka Okoye and Chidozie Awaziem came on for Francis Uzoho and Ola Aina respectively.

Leon Balogun and Victor Osimhen first halve goals were enough to hand the Nigeria National team maximum points away from home thereby reestablishing it’s team lead in Group C.

Below are how well the individual players in the Super Eagles team performed against Central Africa Republic in Cameroon.

1. Maduka Okoye

The Sparta Rotherham goalkeeper returned back in between the stick’s after missing out the party in Lagos owing to delayed flight.

Composed Okoye showed off reasons why he should remain undisputable first choice in the Super Eagles team with the way and manner he directed and began play from the backline.

2. Chidozie Awaziem

The Utility player showed off why he should be ever present in the Super Eagles starting XI as he bagged an assist from his right full back position.

Awaziem who plays as center back, defensive midfielder and full back replaced Ola Aina at the right full back position as the team defeated it’s opponents in Cameroon earlier today.

Awaziem showed off lots of experience, ran the channels expertly and was never found missing in his offensive and defensive duties. The Utility player bagged an assist in the Super Eagles victory today. 8

3. Troost-Ekong

The Watford man as usual had a good game generally against Central Africa Republic earlier today.

Troost-Ekong was solid, made timely interceptions and blocks and above all bagged an assist that saw Victor Osimhen on the goal scorers sheet. 9

4. Leon Balogun

The Rangers of Scotland big center back scored his first goal for the Nigeria Super Eagles team.

The experienced defender showed off an attackers instinct as he expertly dispatched Chidozie Awaziem in swinger, a goal which shot the Gernot Rohr tutored side into an early lead.

Regardless been injured and replaced by Kenneth Omeruo, Balogun and his pair, Troost-Ekong were a beauty to behold in the team backline. 9

5. Jamilu Collins

The Paderborn Player was much more effective than the first fixture in Lagos, Nigeria.

Jamilu kept the left side channel working with his sleeky passes as his pairing with Joe Aribo down the channel counted positively in the team big win away from home. 8

6. Frank Onyeka

The Brentford of England defensive midfielder was lively and performed his duties extremely well, the 23years old midfielder arguably had his best game in the colours of the senior national team today.

Onyeka was a troojan in the middle of the park, he gave the team balance and helped the team in Wining second balls. 7.

7. Joe Aribo

The Scottish league winner had a more excellent game today against Central Africa Republic in Cameroon earlier today.

Aribo sleeky movements and deft touches were brought into play by the left footed midfielder. The midfield maestro was involved in the build up play which birthed the second goal scored by Victor Osimhen. 8.

8. Kelechi Iheanacho

The Leicester City who limped off in Lagos shrugged off injury worries and made the starting line up against Central Africa Republic in Cameroon.

Iheanacho gave a good account of himself in the first halve but struggled in the second halve, little wonder Malmo FF midfielder, Innocent Bonke came in and took his place. 7

9. Moses Simon

The Nantes winger made life miserable and uncomfortable for the Central Africa Republic backline.

‘Daddy’ posed lots of threat with his sleeky movements and pace.8

10. Victor Osimhen

The gangling striker all round good efforts paid off in the second fixture as his goal doubled the Super Eagles lead after Leon Balogun opener.

Osimhen came close to record a brace but all his good intentions and goal bound effort was cleared off the line by Central Africa Republic defender.9

11. Ahmed Musa

The Skipper marked his 101 appearance in the Super Eagles colours in a grand style as he lead the team to a big win away from home. 8


12. Chidera Ejuke
The CSK Moscow man whose place was taken by Skipper Ahmed Musa came off the bench to put up a ‘Man Of The Match’ performance.

Ejuke lighted up the Super Eagles attack line with his insane dribbling skill, the 23year old winger took the opponents to the cleaners for fun. 9.

13. Innocent Bonke
The Malmo FF defensive midfielder came on to help fortify the midfield and wrapped up the game for the team.

Bonke partnered Frank Onyeka in the middle of the park after coming on for Kelechi Iheanacho. The duo pair within the few minutes he lasted said how much of a good player he is. 7

14. Kenneth Omeruo
The Leganes defender came in for injured Leon Balogun. Omeruo and Troost-Ekong showed off a good pairing . 7

AFCON23: Nigerians Owes José Peseiro Apologies



Failure as they said has no friends whilst success comes with lots of friends and family members inclusive.

Success never comes overnight as it requires time, consistency, believing in your craft will surely draw the much needed success closer than expected.

The Nigeria Super Eagles yesterday stepped into the semi-finals of the on-going African Cup Of Nations In Abidjan, Ivory Coast following its 1-0 win over Angola, all thanks to Lookman Ademola first half goal which was enough to separate the two sides at full time.

Prior to the African Cup Of Nations, the Nigeria Super Eagles were written off by its own country people following the team strings of poor run with its Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peseiro, described as an ‘incompetent’ Coach by many Nigeria Football enthusiasts.

José Peseiro suffered all manner of insults and cyber bullying by Nigerians as well as in the hands of the Nigeria Football Federation as he was forced to take a pay but he was undeterred knowing his worth and ability.

Nigeria Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peserio, suffered all manner of negative criticism from Nigeria Football enthusiasts, Journalists and Pundits starting from its Provisional list for the AFCON down to his list of 25 players for the competition.

The Portuguese gaffer amidst all negative criticism remained focused and never allowed side talks from naysayers distract him as he knows his Onion and was ready to prove it.

“We said it, the Nigeria Super Eagles team is too big for Jose Peserio to handle, the team cannot qualify for group stages ” these were words of many Nigerians, pundits and analysts after the team 1-1 draw in its first game in Group A against Equatorial Guinea.

The team squared up against host Nation, Ivory Coast and cruised to a 1-0 win and went ahead to record a 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau to secure a place in the round of 16 but still, the Coach Jose Peserio tutored side was under fire as they described the team qualification as a fluke.

In all group stages, the Nigeria Super Eagles team conceded only once and still stretched its clean-sheet with their 2-0 win over Cameroon in the round of 16 down to its 1-0 win over Angola in the quarter-finals.

Against all odds, against all criticism by Naysayers, Coach Jose Peserio has silenced all criticism against him with success stories following the Nigeria Super Eagles qualifications for the semi-finals of the AFCON.

At this point, Nigerian football enthusiasts, Journalists, Analysts and Pundits needs to unanimously come together and tender an apology to the Nigeria Super Eagles gaffer as his big feats in the AFCON has brought smiles in the faces of millions of Nigerians who called for his sack prior to the competition.

As early stated, Success takes time and requires consistent as Jose Peserio has turned around the fortunes of the Nigeria Super Eagles team in the AFCON with its high level of consistency in formations and personnel’s.

With the team setting it’s eyes on the trophy, Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peserio deserves an apology letter from all Nigerians who doubted his ability.
