Unheralded Nigerian Born Midfielder Iwu Ugochukwu Makes Armenia Debut

Nigerian born midfielder,Iwu Ugochukwu officially played his first game for the Armenia national football team Saturday night as the Mountaineers 1-2 defeat at home in an Europe qualifiers fixture.
Iwu was handed a starting shirt in the competitive fixture and the 23-year old did not disappoint as he played out all 90mins in the keenly contested fixture.

Born on 28 November 1999, combative 23-year-old Iwu Ugochukwu who was born in Jos,Plateau State, Started his professional football career with Nigerian topflight league side,El-Kanemi Warriors F.C.

After a stint with the Nigeria based side, Iwu Ugochukwu landed in Armenia where he signed up with Armenian based outfit,Lori FC in 2018.

After his (3) years stint with, Lori FC, scoring (4) goals in (36) apperances, Iwu Ugochukwu opted for a loan with Armenian side, Football Club Pyunik Yerevan.

Upon his loan expiration, Iwu Ugochukwu signed up the dotted lines to play for Football Club Urartu.

Ever present Iwu Ugochukwu in Football Club Urartu has been Outstanding for the team winning MOTM and team Best Player of the season on numerous occasions.

The Nigerian born midfielder who fully nationalized in Armenia has been handed his first cap for the Armenia national football team.

WHO ARE FAVOURITES: Argentina will definitely start as favourites due to their pedigree as the most successful team in the competition history, perfect record in the 2023 edition and expected home support by their fans.

PREDICTION: Despite the huge signs pointing towards a win for the South Americans, Nigeria did prove in their 2-0 win over Italy that they are a team to reckon with.

The Flying Eagles will not be pushed over, expect a keen contest that will produce goals.

‘ We are no pushovers ‘- Flying Eagles Coach says ahead of Argentina game

Flying Eagles of Nigeria Head Coach Ladan Bosso has said his team will not be pushovers when they face Argentina in the Round of 16 of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The Nigeria U-20 boys finished as one of the best 3rd placed teams to setup a game vs tournament hosts Argentina in the last-16.

With the South Americans heavily tipped as favourites to win the match on Wednesday May 31, Flying Eagles Head Coach Ladan Bosso has said it will be wrong for anyone to underrate a team at this stage of the tournament.

Bosso declared is charges are ready to give the game same push like their opponents.

He said “This is the World Cup and it is wrong to under-rate any team. We won two of our three matches and had the same number of points in our group as Brazil and Italy. We are no pushovers in this campaign.

“It is going to be an interesting game. We want the quarter-final ticket and the Argentines also want the quarter-final ticket. We will go in there and dig our feet into the ground.” Bosso promised.

Nigeria land in Buenos Aires for Brazil game

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Buenos Aires ahead of their FIFA U-20 World Cup group D clash vs Brazil.

Nigeria and Brazil will lock horns in the final group D matchday away from Mendoza where the Flying Eagles have enjoyed success.

It was in Mendoza that the Coach Ladan Bosso tutored Flying Eagles defeated Dominican and Italy to seal a round of 16 spot with a game to spare.

The team has said goodbye to Mendoza and have returned to Buenos Aires were they underwent final camping before the ongoing U-20 World Cup.

The game between group D third placed team Brazil and first placed Nigeria will take place at the Estadio Unico Diego Maradona in La Plata on Saturday, May 27.
