Nigerian forward Stephen Chinedu has poured eulogized Bosnia and Hezgo outfit, Nogometni klub Široki Brijeg, for their high level of professionalism as he enjoys every bit of life in the club and in the city.

Speak with MeridianSportBH, the Nigerian forward relished life in Nigeria as well as life playing in Albania as well as in Croatia.

“I was born and raised in Kano, Nigeria. Like many African boys, football was something he did every day. I started playing it from a very young age, and that too on the street. At that time, I remember well, we didn’t have any special equipment or grass fields, but that’s why we had passion and love for football”

“I remember very well that I went to watch a football match on television with my father and that I saw Ronaldinho, who was then playing in Barcelona. I was simply fascinated with him and knew then that I wanted to play professional football”.

“When I came to Croatia for the first time, I was delighted and I felt that I had succeeded in something impossible, because leaving Africa and coming to play football in Europe is not at all easy” – said Steven and continued :

“Coming to Neretvanac was a great opportunity for me, they accepted me in a way that I could never have dreamed would happen in Europe. Personally, Neretvanac and Opuzen will be two indelible memories for me because they made me feel at home even though I was extremely far away from it. They also helped me to settle down and gave me the opportunity to show my talent”.

“Hajduk was the biggest step in my career because I signed my first professional contract with him. That’s where I learned the most, improved my skills and started building a professional career. Of course, there were many challenges with that, but I am also grateful for them because I learned a lot from them, not only about football, but about life in general and about myself. I became stronger, wiser and overall a better player and person”

“Simply, Hajduk is a team with the best fans and that’s something I’ve never seen in my life. As for Split, it is a beautiful city and life there was very peaceful. However, it is the place where I met my wife and where my child was born, and it will always have a special place in my heart”.

“I love my life in Široki, my family and I have adapted very well and we enjoy it here. The club is at the top level from the management, professional staff and the players themselves. There is a great atmosphere in the dressing room and I firmly believe that a club like Široki Brijeg can compete in Europe next season. We have a young and modern coach who leads us in an excellent direction”.

The gangling forward has been handful for Nogometni klub Široki Brijeg as he has always turn up with goals and assist when needed most.
