Salau Rauf says the goal of the Championship is to keep giving visibility to players and providing a competitive platform to enhance and aid the development of players of participating clubs.
Speaking with the media, Salau stated that “We will keep providing the platform to promote the participation of younger players and continue to serve as a platform for grass root and Amateur clubs to be competitive which will in turn aid the development of their players.
‘We also wish to take it further by investing more on the digital profiling of the players and also Scouting videos to enhance more visibility for players of participating clubs”.
The Fusion Football Championship has produced two winners since inception of the tournament with Goshen winning the Inaugural edition, while G12 won the second edition.
Eleven teams only registered to be part of the third edition of the Championship and after match day one, Smart City FC sits top of the log of the Fusion Football Championship.
When asked about the low turnout in registration in the Championship this season, Salau stated that the low turnout is as a result of the strict compliance policies and regulations the management board of the league put in place which he believes will benefit the league in the long run.
In his words ” We decided that this season, we have to enforce compliance for participating clubs to adhere to the governing rules of the league and that resulted in the low turnout you see but we are unperturbed because we are trying to set a standard and we are confident that this will even bring more result oriented impact and value to the league and the participating clubs” concluded Salau Rauf
