Oriental Derby: Imama Amapakabo Rates Daniel Wotlai High

Former Nigeria Super Eagles and Abia Warriors FC gaffer, Imama Amapakabo, has heaped praise on Abia Warriors FC midfielder, Daniel Wotlai, following his outstanding performance in the Prestigious Nigeria professional football league oriental derby.

The Oriental Derby which involves two Nigeria professional football league city neighbors, Enyimba FC and Abia Warriors had it’s reverse fixture played earlier today at the Okigwe Township Stadium.

Abia Warriors FC who are heading towards better days had it’s quest for improvement on the log put to a litmus test on Matchday (21) of the current Nigeria professional football league season as they square up against, Enyimba FC.

Two times Africa Champions, Enyimba FC, continued it’s quest to make it to the continent when they face city neighbors, Abia Warriors, away from home.

The host, Abia Warriors FC, were the first to break the deadlock following, Ahmed Yakub, 30th minute strike and went ahead to double it’s lead following, Valentine Odoh’s strike.

The visitors had a chance to reduce the deficit to bring the scoreline to (2-1) at full time.

In a post match reaction, Abia Warriors FC gaffer, Imama Amapakabo, hailed Abia Warriors mecurial midfielder, Daniel Wotlai, following his outstanding performance which was key to the team win.

“Wotlai came up with his A game today and am delighted about it”

“He was key to our victory today because he was able to match Enyimba Midfielders and ensured we having all second balls”

“He is a top talent and I know with time, he will be exactly where he deserved to be” the former Nigeria U23 gaffer concluded.

Actions resumed in the Nigeria top-flight league with many goals and exciting moments witnessed in all the Matchday 27 played across venues.

Journalist, Nwosu ‘Chygoz’ Chigozie takes us through a review on how things paned out on Matchday 27 in the Nigeria professional league.

1. Heartland vs Rangers (1-2)

The Flying Antelopes completed a double over its oriental brothers in an oriental derby as the Enugu based side clinched a 1-2 win away from home to topple league leaders, Lobi Stars.

2. Katsina United vs Ábíá Warriors (2-1)

A dramatic fixture it was at the Dikko Stadium in Katsina as Ábíá Warriors failed to get all points at stake after drawing the first blood in the game.

3. Remo Stars vs Bendel Insurance (2-0)

The Sky Blue stars left it late to secure a 2-0 win over Bendel Insurance in Ikenne.

4. Kwara United vs Enyimba (2-1)

Kwara United relied on Emmanuel Ogbole brace to secure an important home win against League defending champions, Enyimba International.

5. Lobi Stars vs Bayelsa United (1-1)

Bayelsa United denied Lobi Stars the right to occupy and stretch it’s lead on top of the summit as they held the League Leaders to a 1-1 draw in Nassarawa.

6. Plateau United vs Akwa United (1-2)

Struggling ‘Promise Keepers’ spoilt the party of Jos side, Plateau United as they condemned them to a defeat right in front of it’s fans.

7. Doma United vs Gombe United (1-1)

Visiting Gombe United compounded the woes of Doma United as they share all points at stake in it’s local derby.

8. Kano Pillars vs Sporting Lagos (1-0)

Umar Mustapha was the hero for Kano Pillars as his solitary strike was all the team needed for a win at home.

Lawal Kehinde: Highly Rated Nigerian Youngster Stunning Goal Earns Bayelsa United Draw At Lobi Stars

Highly rated Nigerian youngster, Kehinde Lawal, was the hero for Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Bayelsa United, as his late strike was all the team needed to cop a point away from against League Leaders, Lobi Stars.

Known for his dashing and exciting style of play, the Bayelsa United ‘Golden Boy’ was as usual handed a starting place in tough test against, Lobi Stars of Markurdi.

After struggling to grind out maximum points against, Kano Pillars on Matchday 26, Kehinde and his Bayelsa United side shifted its focus to Matchday 27 haven been drawn to face Lobi stars away from home.

After suffering a lose in Enugu at the Cathedral on Matchday 26, Lobi Stars returned home hoping to bounce back to winning ways, make up for the lost points when they trade tackles with Bayelsa United on Matchday 27.

First half of the game which ended in a barren draw witnessed the best of football artistry regardless nothing to separate the two side at half Time.

League Leaders and home side, Lobi Stars became the first to break the deadlock in the second half off the efforts of towering defenders, Chinedu Sunday at the 61st minute.

Failing to find a double, Lobi Stars who were found napping got punished at the 71st minute after sensational forward, Lawal Kehinde, made way into the opponents box to pull the strings, drawing the two sides level.

All efforts by Lobi stars to pull a come back proved abortive as Bayelsa United kept it solid to ensure a point on the road.

Bayelsa United sensational youngster, Kehinde Lawal, says they can pull off the strings when Bayelsa United trade tackles with Nigeria Professional Football League top ranking side, Lobi Stars In Nasarawa.

Lawal, who has brought both youth and experience with his dynamic style of play to the Bayelsa United squad shares his optimism ahead of the MatchDay 27 fixture.

“It has been a tough and interesting season for all teams in the NPFL, but this second half of the season has been a challenging one looking at the results week-in-week-out and the trend on the log.

“We showed resilience in our game against Kano Pillars at home and got rewarded with the points.

“Though Bayelsa United may not have had a good run in its last three matches after earning a deserved result in Kano, we hope to rejuvenate our season.
