NSF Zonal elimination: Akwa Ibom 8-0 Rivers State, Akwa Ibom close in on Sports festival qualification

A highly spirited Akwa Ibom State male football team spanked Rivers State 8-0 in a South South Elimination match on Thursday October 6, to close in on qualification for the 2022 National Sports Festival.

From the blast of Referee Womi Sampson’s whistle, the Akwa Ibom lads pounced on their sorry Rivers State opponents in search of points to qualify for the Sports Festival after missing the last three editions.

Four goals in each half of the game at the Practice pitch of the Nest of Champions, Uyo gave Akwa Ibom State a huge +6 goal difference in the race for the second Qualification spot behind Bayelsa state .

Five states on Tuesday October 4, began the battle for two 2022 National Sports Festival slots in the Men’s football event of the South South zonal elimination .

At the time of this report, Bayelsa state lead the standings with 9 points , Akwa Ibom State are in second place with 6points and a +6 goal difference following two wins to recover from the disappointments of Wednesday .

Cross River state are 3rd with 6 points and a Zero goal difference , Edo and Rivers State who will face off in the last game are level on 3 points apiece in 5th and 6th spot respectively.

As it stands, Akwa Ibom will book a place in the 2022 National Sports Festival to be hosted by Delta state from November 18, 2022 except Edo State secures a 8-0 win over Rivers State or Rivers State defeats Edo State 13-0 .

OKEOWO OLUWASEYI RELISHES HIS PROFESSIONAL STINT WITH 3SC, DREAMS OF EUROPEAN LEAGUE FOOTBALL

The youth product of Masterclasses has stated that his time at Shooting Stars Sports Club (also known as 3SC) remains one of his best football career highlight.

The Attacking Midfielder who is also comfortable as a left wing Midfielder stated that to have starred with a club that once paraded great names like Segun Odegbami, Rashidi Yekini, Duke Udi, Mutiu Adepoju and many other prominent players, most of whom he never had the chance to watch during their active football days will forever remain a thing of pride to him.

In his words “Playing for 3SC will always remain one of my career highlights. This is a club with a very rich history which paraded several great names at various times. I learnt players like Rashidi Yekini, Mutiu Adepoju, Segun Odegbami all plied their football trade with this club.

The fans, especially the older folks hold this club in high esteem and to have had a stint with the club and don their jersey at some point in my football career will forever remain a thing of pride for me” concluded Okeowo.

Okeowo currently plies his football trade with Dekernes in the Egyptian second division league.

Nigerian League Side Adds Four New Signings Ahead of Second Half of League Season

Nigerian league side, Sunshine Stars have added four new players to her side ahead of the second half of the league season.

Amongst the new signings are Ibrahim Yusuf who joined from Remo Stars. Others are former Nigerian International, Caykur Rizespor and Dinamo Batumi and HNK GORICA centre back, Godfrey Oboabona as well as Davies Alan and Maichibi Favour.

Sunshine Stars finished third in the first half of the Group B log with 15 points winning 4 of her games and drawing three.

The Coach Edith Agoye led side will be looking to build on their first half campaign with the latest additions.

Oborevwori polled 360, 234 votes to beat his closest rival of the APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who scored 240,229.
