Nigeria Vs Sudan: Super Eagles Players Rating



The Nigerian Super Eagles team continued its impressive run of form in the on-going African Cup Of Nations campaign as they recorded a convincing win against Sudanese Senior National team side in one of Group D fixtures in the offing at the weekend..

At the blast of the kicks-off whistle, the Coach Augustine Eguavoen tutored side dominated play and broke the deadlock at the 3rd minute off the boots of Villareal winger, Samuel Chukwueze, who benefited from a sumptuous assist from Moses Simon.

Before the half time break, Union Berlin and Nigeria Super Eagles Striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, doubled the Super Eagles lead as two sides returned back to the locker room.

On re-emergence for the second half, Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon, stretched the Nigeria Senior National team side lead with a jaw-dropping goal at the 46min before the Sudanese Senior National team side pulled a goal from the spot.

At the blast of the final whistle to end proceedings at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium (Garoua) it was the Nigeria Super Eagles side who bagged a deserving maximum points against “The Falcons of Jediane”

Admist the joyous mood, Below is a general rating and how best he Super Eagles players fared individually against, their Sudanese opponent’s.

1. Maduka Okoye (8/10)
The Sparta Rotterdam Goalkeeper was virtually on holiday in the game altho he showed class the few times he was called to duty.

Unfortunately, the Dutch based goalie had his clean-sheet record shattered after being beaten from the spot.

2. Troost-Ekong (7/10)
As usual, Troost-Ekong was on top of his game, did very well in all aspects and had a shot at goal in the first half.

3. Kenneth Omeruo (8/10)
The Experienced defender continued from he stopped the last time. Omeruo and his Pair, Troost-Ekong, complimented each other in play a great deal.

4. Ola Aina (9/10)
The Torino right-back was a joy to behold. Aina was exceptional as he was often used by the team to wreck havoc from the right hand side.

5. Zaidu Sanusi (8/10)
Zaidu and Moses Simon continued with their exciting display down the channels. The FC Porto left back was alive to his defensive and offensive duties and went ahead to ice his performance with an attempt at goal which was parried by the Sudanese goalkeeper.

6. Ndidi Wilfred (9/10)
As expected, Ndidi acted as the team ‘Engine Room. The Leicester City defensive midfielder was virtually everywhere in the field of play, winning tackles and second balls ..

7. Joe Aribo (8/10)
The Rangers attacking midfielder was in his usual element, his combination in the middle of the park alongside Ndidi Wilfred yielded lots of positive results for the team.

8. Moses Simon (9/10)
Arguably the man of the match, Simon lighted up the right hand channels. His dashing and sleeky runs made him unplayable and got a well deserved goal at the 46th minute after assisting Samuel Chukwueze 3rd minute goal.

9. Samuel Chukwueze (8/10)
The Villareal winger was in his usual element today. The dazzling winger combined so well with Torino Defender, Ola Aina, and was the first to break the deadlock at the 3rd minute to open the flood gates of goals.

10. Kelechi Iheanacho (7/10)
The Super Eagles hero the last time against Egypt had a relatively bad day in office as he had few exciting moments in the game.

11. Taiwo Awoniyi (8/10)
After having his first attempt denied by the woodwork in the game, Taiwo Awoniyi finally opened his goal account in the AFCON as he leaped the most to head in Samuel Chukwueze’s delivery from a dead ball.

AFCON23: Nigerians Owes José Peseiro Apologies



Failure as they said has no friends whilst success comes with lots of friends and family members inclusive.

Success never comes overnight as it requires time, consistency, believing in your craft will surely draw the much needed success closer than expected.

The Nigeria Super Eagles yesterday stepped into the semi-finals of the on-going African Cup Of Nations In Abidjan, Ivory Coast following its 1-0 win over Angola, all thanks to Lookman Ademola first half goal which was enough to separate the two sides at full time.

Prior to the African Cup Of Nations, the Nigeria Super Eagles were written off by its own country people following the team strings of poor run with its Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peseiro, described as an ‘incompetent’ Coach by many Nigeria Football enthusiasts.

José Peseiro suffered all manner of insults and cyber bullying by Nigerians as well as in the hands of the Nigeria Football Federation as he was forced to take a pay but he was undeterred knowing his worth and ability.

Nigeria Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peserio, suffered all manner of negative criticism from Nigeria Football enthusiasts, Journalists and Pundits starting from its Provisional list for the AFCON down to his list of 25 players for the competition.

The Portuguese gaffer amidst all negative criticism remained focused and never allowed side talks from naysayers distract him as he knows his Onion and was ready to prove it.

“We said it, the Nigeria Super Eagles team is too big for Jose Peserio to handle, the team cannot qualify for group stages ” these were words of many Nigerians, pundits and analysts after the team 1-1 draw in its first game in Group A against Equatorial Guinea.

The team squared up against host Nation, Ivory Coast and cruised to a 1-0 win and went ahead to record a 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau to secure a place in the round of 16 but still, the Coach Jose Peserio tutored side was under fire as they described the team qualification as a fluke.

In all group stages, the Nigeria Super Eagles team conceded only once and still stretched its clean-sheet with their 2-0 win over Cameroon in the round of 16 down to its 1-0 win over Angola in the quarter-finals.

Against all odds, against all criticism by Naysayers, Coach Jose Peserio has silenced all criticism against him with success stories following the Nigeria Super Eagles qualifications for the semi-finals of the AFCON.

At this point, Nigerian football enthusiasts, Journalists, Analysts and Pundits needs to unanimously come together and tender an apology to the Nigeria Super Eagles gaffer as his big feats in the AFCON has brought smiles in the faces of millions of Nigerians who called for his sack prior to the competition.

As early stated, Success takes time and requires consistent as Jose Peserio has turned around the fortunes of the Nigeria Super Eagles team in the AFCON with its high level of consistency in formations and personnel’s.

With the team setting it’s eyes on the trophy, Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peserio deserves an apology letter from all Nigerians who doubted his ability.
