NFF suspends Akwa Ibom Football Association Elections over Petition…

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has given a directive to the Akwa Ibom State Football Association to postpone its elections. The decision was taken after the NFF received a report from the Electoral Committee of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association filed by Hon. Nse Essien against the FA.

According to the report, the electoral process was not conducted in line with the NFF Statutes and Guidelines, and there were several irregularities in the conduct of the elections. The NFF has therefore ordered the Akwa Ibom State FA to temporarily suspend the elections till further notice.

In a petition by the Hon. Nse Essien, the election committee disqualified him over lack of signatories to endorse his form. Provisionally, the form is supposed to be endorsed by 3 members of the football association in the state. While Nse Essien was endorsed by only 3 as provisionally highlighted on the form, the election committee of the Akwa Ibom FA claims it is supposed to be endorsed by 4 stakeholders.

Due to the petition, the election of the Akwa Ibom Football Association has been temporarily placed on hold till further notice.
