NFF Board Member, Essien, Appointed Patron Of Football Academies

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board member, Hon. Nse Essien, has been appointed as the patron of the Nigeria Football Academies Championship.

The Nigeria Football Academies Championship set up by the Association of proprietors of Football Academies in Nigeria (APFAN) in collaboration with Berackiah International to help discover quality players from the grassroots, appointed Hon Essien as its patron due to his rich knowledge, discoveries and development of the game at the grassroots.

Hon. Nse Essien, who is deputy whip of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has guided Akwa United to several successes including the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and he is the proprietor of FC One Rocket, a Nigeria National League club side where has produce several players including Daniel Doga who picked several Man of the Match Award among the conquering WAFU U-20 tournament in Niamey Niger Republic recently.

Speaking on the appointment of Hon. Essien, CEO/MD Berackiah International, Mr Wonders Nwigwe Nduka, lauds the choice of the NFF board member as the patron of the Nigeria Football Academies Championship.

“When you look at the pedigree of Hon. Nse Essien and what he has been doing for football, you will agree with me that He deserves such a reputable position because of the level he is operating from as someone who believes that the grassroots is the pull of the future great professionals”.

He is to be inducted officially next month.

Dana Cup: Nigeria’s Blue Ocean FC Thrash Imas-Jerv2 4-0

One of Nigeria representatives in the prestigious Dana Cup, Blue Ocean FC, kicked off its campaign on a winning note following its 4-0 emphatic win over top Norwegian clubside, Imas-Jerv 2 to send strong warning to its opponents.

Determined to make a huge statement, the Nigerian based talent hub stormed Denmark with a stars studded team with lots of prospects as they eye to bring the cup home.

Youthful and energetic Blue Ocean FC youngsters were the first out of the woods in the keenly contested fixture against Imas-Jery 2 as they broke the deadlock off an exquisite finish from its highly rated youngster, Afeez Olanrewaju.

Rampaging Blue Ocean FC lads doubled their lead before the half time break as Iroka Emmanuel Arinze found a space for himself in the offensive final third to blast home from close range.

Cruising on a 2-goal scoreline, resilient Blue Ocean FC lads sustained the tempo and got rewarded before the half hour mark as Abisuga Samuel calmly slotted home to extended the scoreline outta the opponents reach.

Surging forward to stage a comeback, Imas-Jerv 2 attempts at goal was rebuffed by impregnable Blue Ocean FC backline who defended stoutly to earn a clean sheet.

Putting an icing on the cake, Blue Ocean FC went forth and grabbed the fourth goal as Abisuga Samuel completed a brace with a clinical finish to bring the scoreline to 4-0 at full time.

Paul Omamomo: My Desire Is To See Young Nigeria Players Get Educated.

Leading Nigeria football agent Paul Omamomo Ojo, has made know his intention is to see the next generation of Nigeria young football is to be educated while playing the game at the same time speaking to Nigeriasportsnews Journalist, Nwosu ‘Chygoz’ Nwosu.


“Vista is a football program that combine football with education, and its a football development centre that combine football with education in Russia and they scout players from all over Africa countries and it’s a program for underage players where any players that are scouted will have to play football at same time go to school in Russia, and this is also a fantastic opportunity for Nigeria young player to play and school”.


Explaining further, I choose to get involved in these simply because of the educational value it offers for young footballers and I believe that these young players need the education in their life, and after their careers as footballer when I had the opportunity I did not think twice to get involved for Nigeria youth and I will not hesitate to give more of these offer to young Nigeria, I discovered that most Nigerian footballers are not educated which is a disadvantage to them when negotiating their contract and with these kind of programmes they will be able to stand for them self in the future.


The programme have given us the privileges to take over 50 young Nigerians to the Vista Academy in Russia and with almost 40 of them are playing international clubs football across Europe.

Baring his view on the impact of the project on the young footballer we have in Nigeria the top agent said.

For me it is number one project in Nigeria combining football with education and its the best of its kind and it the one that gives them the opportunity to travel at the right age to Europe, it also prepare you to travel at the right time and also prepare you for the football challenge at the club level at least for now Vista project is one of the. Best at the moment”


According to him, one of the amazing thing is that the players will be in Europe in the next 2 months to start a career in football with education once you are identify as a talent and the scouts are satisfy with your ability to make the top grade once you get to the academy in Russia.


We have ensure every part of Nigeria are represented, as we can see from the number of the Academy graduates drawn from various states across Nigeria.

It will be recalled one of the Academy graduate spotted by Agent Paul Ojo Omamomo in the current transfer window transferred to Swiss Super League giants, Zurich FC with another trio joining Bulgarian side, Botev Plovdiv.

In same vein, will be recalled three Nigerian youngsters spotted in different Academy in Nigeria left the shores of the country last week to continue their development in Russia with FDC Vista.

In the month under review, Tellectual Football Academy who bagged a major cup during the month under-review season thus made it two within a month following its recent Perrypays Superstars cup feat.
