Moses Simon Unity Cup: Super Eagles Star Turns Up For Finals In Style

The Unity Cup organized by Super Eagles player in Benue State finally ended yesterday the 26th November, 2022, with the Super Eagles player in attendance to watch Epoch finals of the first edition.


According to the Benue indigene, “it is going to be a yearly event. I’m excited with what I have watched in the finals, so many raw talents and with time they will go places.


“Actually, it’s a competition to promote the youths in about five Local Government areas. The first time I came to see the First Lady, we discussed and I saw some talents from the female team, which we spoke at length about, when I got back I just felt it’s the right time for me to organise a competition, to see some young talents which I think I can promote their career.


“Ofcourse, they are raw talents, but they have to be refurbished, because they need encouragement and motivation. When you don’t have before and now have, it’s a different level. Then, I didn’t have and there was nobody to sponsor a competition like this, but now, I don’t have much but ofcourse the little I have I just need to appreciate and spend it on the youths and I believe the youths will be happy about it.


“Benue is my home town, I have never done anything here before and this is my second time of being in Benue. I’m here to help the youth, likewise Kaduna State.


“Yes, there are arrangements for scouts to spot players, some players have been spotted and about 20 players now. That is the main reason I came here to see the players myself. To know if they’re actually really good”, the FC Nante player concluded.

NNL campaigners, Sporting Supreme were faced with an uphill task in their round of 32 tie haven been drawn to lock horns with Abia Warriros at the Samuel Ogbomudia Stadium Benin City.

An exciting and cagey first half ended in a barren draw as all efforts by the two sides to break the deadlock never came through..

On return for the second half, rampaging Abia Warriros marksman, Sunday Megwo, stepped to be counted following his overall input in the game.

A swift interchange of passes from the Pride of Umuahia ended with Ojonugwa Adejoh sending a delightful pass into the opponents vital area for Sunday Megwo to strike with precision and score his 5th goal in the President Federation Cup.

Sporting Supreme, competing in the second tier of Nigerian football, came all out in the closing stages of the match in search of an equalizer, but Abia Warriors defence quartet of captain Augustine Njoku, Prince Okorie, Collins Nwoburuoke and Aliyu Mohammed refused to bulge.

With this victory, Abia Warriors will now wait for the draws by the organizers to ascertain their next opponents.

NPFL Youth League: Naira Rains For Abia Warriros As CEO Banana Island Lounge & Grills Rewards Players

Chief Executive Officer of popular Texas based Banana Island Grills and Lounge, Francis Chilaka, has rewarded Abia Warriors Under-17 monetarily for their gallant performance in the maiden edition of the Nigeria Professional Football League Youth played in Enugu State, for the South-East zone.

Speaking after the team last fixture against Rangers Under-17, Chilaka who doubles as a Board member of the Abia Warriros Football Club elougized the young Warriors for their spirited performance regardless coming together as a team in a short while.

“The boys showed character and prospects, am proud of their performance regardless not picking the South-East slot as the team wanted”

“Everyone at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu applauded the youthful Abia Warriros for their exceptional cohesion in their style of play “

“Truely, a big future is before Abia Warriros as the boys will be graduated into the main team as the progress with their developmental process”

In conclusion, soft speaking Chilaka who promised the team a mouthwatering cash reward (N200,000) handed the cash to the team management as the team journey back to Umuahia.

Excitingly the football enthusiasts, Francis Chilaka, was in Enugu althrough the competition giving them financial and moral support.

Abia Warriros Under-17 failed to record a win in the (3) day event as they garned a draw following its (2-2) stalemate with Enyimba and a (0-0) draw against Rangers Under-17 .
