Mikel Obi reveals one thing Pep Guardiola will love to do in the Premier League

Former Super Eagles skipper Mikel Obi has shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s legendary Invincibles squad, highlighting a Premier League record that he believes may never be broken, even by a manager as successful as Pep Guardiola.

Reflecting on Arsenal’s historic 2003-04 season, in which they went the entire campaign undefeated, Mikel Obi praised the Gunners’ achievement as one of the most impressive and unbreakable records in English football.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Mikel said, “The Invincibles, I don’t know when that [record] is going to ever be broken.” When asked if he thought the record could ever be matched, the former Chelsea and Middlesbrough midfielder expressed doubt. “In the Premier League? I don’t know. I think that is one record Pep Guardiola really would love to break – the unbeaten record.”

While Guardiola’s Manchester City has been dominant in recent seasons, their attempts to replicate Arsenal’s unbeaten run have fallen short. In the 2017-18 season, City went 21 games unbeaten before suffering their first defeat to Liverpool in January 2018.

City’s 2017-18 squad did set the record for the most points in a single Premier League season with 100 and became the first team in England to win a domestic treble with 98 points. Guardiola also led City to an unprecedented four consecutive Premier League titles and a treble, achievements that place him among the greats of English football.

However, despite these accomplishments, Guardiola has not been able to match Arsenal’s 2003-04 unbeaten season under Arsene Wenger. Arsenal’s Invincibles won 26 and drew 12 of their 38 league games, a feat that remains unmatched in the Premier League era.

Mikel Obi, like many pundits, believes that Arsenal’s record may stand the test of time. “It’s one of those records that just seems unreachable in the modern game,” he remarked. “Even though Pep and the other top managers will keep trying, matching the Invincibles will be an incredibly difficult task.”

As years pass, Arsenal’s Invincibles season continues to be celebrated as a remarkable achievement in football history, one that may never be replicated in the fiercely competitive Premier League.

Football mourns: Sol Bamba passes away at 39 after battle with cancer

The football world mourns the tragic death of former Premier League defender Sol Bamba, who passed away at 39.

Bamba, remembered for his time at Leeds United, Cardiff City, and Leicester City, died while serving as the technical director of the Turkish club Adanaspor.

Adanaspor confirmed the news on Saturday. “Souleymane Bamba, our Technical Director, fell ill before the Manisa Football Club match and was taken to Manisa Celal Bayar University Hospital. Sadly, he passed away there. Our condolences to his family and our community,” the club announced.

Bamba has battled non-Hodgkin lymphoma since December 2020. Although doctors believed he was in remission, he reportedly relapsed before the Manisa FK match.

Bamba’s football journey began in Paris Saint-Germain’s youth team before moving to Scotland, where he played for Dunfermline and Hibernian. He made his English debut in 2011 with Leicester City under Sven-Goran Eriksson, who had a close bond with him. Earlier this week, Bamba paid tribute to Eriksson, who also passed away recently.

He later captained Leeds United in 2016 before moving to Cardiff City, where he made 118 appearances. It was at Cardiff that he received his lymphoma diagnosis. Despite his illness, Bamba continued to inspire his teammates and fans.

Cardiff City paid tribute, saying, “Sol’s impact on our football club was immeasurable. He was a hero, a leader in every dressing room, and a true gentleman.”

Middlesbrough, where Bamba played in the 2021-22 season, also expressed sorrow: “We are devastated by Sol Bamba’s passing. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Leeds United added, “Rest in peace, Sol. You will be forever in our hearts.”

Sol Bamba’s legacy as a fighter and leader will continue to inspire the football world.

Sterling staying put as Arsenal eyes elsewhere, while Chelsea targets Sancho

Raheem Sterling’s potential transfer to Arsenal looks unlikely as the Gunners seem to have set their sights on other targets.

Despite rumors suggesting the Chelsea winger might make a late move to North London, the latest updates indicate that Arsenal is focusing on different priorities as the transfer window closes.

Arsenal has been in the market for a wide player to bolster their attack, with Nico Williams from Athletic Club being the top target. However, Williams has chosen to stay in Spain for at least another season. Arsenal might now wait until 2025 to compete with Barcelona for his signature.

Mikel Arteta, who has a history with Sterling from their time together at Manchester City, spoke highly of the player when asked about a possible reunion. His comments were positive, reflecting their strong working relationship. But despite this, Arsenal seems to be looking elsewhere for reinforcements.

Meanwhile, Chelsea is reportedly in talks with Manchester United about a possible swap deal involving Jadon Sancho. If this move materializes, it could see Sterling remaining at Chelsea, at least for now.

With the clock ticking down on the transfer window, Arsenal fans may have to wait for their club’s next move, while Sterling’s future remains uncertain.

Mbappe’s X Account hacked: Controversial tweets cause choas

Kylian Mbappe’s X account has been hacked, leading to a flurry of controversial tweets that have stirred up a storm online.

The French football star’s account was compromised early Thursday, and several provocative messages have surfaced since.

Among the now-deleted tweets, the hacker teased a potential transfer to Manchester United, which sparked speculation across the platform. In one tweet, Mbappe allegedly praised a Man United fan’s account before joking about a 2028 move to the club.

Additionally, the hacker posted a derogatory remark about Chelsea, claiming, “Chelsea are washed, g,” in response to a fan’s tweet suggesting Mbappe supports the West London team.

Another tweet reportedly aimed the long-standing rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, with a mocking comment about Messi.

Users on X, including #haiwe_xtm and #Big_5ve, have noted the apparent inconsistency with Mbappe’s known views, suggesting the account was indeed hacked. One user, #UTDLenz, speculated that the hacker might be a fan of Manchester United and Ronaldo, while another, #RackiRMA, questioned the effectiveness of Mbappe’s media team in managing the situation.

Amid the chaos, Mbappe’s recent performances for Real Madrid have been overshadowed. He scored in a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup but has struggled in La Liga, failing to score in games against Mallorca and Valladolid.

As the situation unfolds, fans and analysts are keeping a close eye on how this incident might impact Mbappe’s reputation and his ongoing season with Real Madrid.
