Kelvin Ejeh | It Is Fraustrating, We Didn’t Make Enough Of Our Chances In The Final Third

Abia Warriors FC assistant gaffer, Kelvin Ejeh, was left frustrated his Abia Warriors side had not made more of their opportunities in it’s rescheduled Matchday 9 fixture against Rivers United played earlier today at the Umuahia township stadium.

The Warriors were forced to a share of spoils against the Pride of Rivers’ with the game ending on a 0-0 score line at full time.

The exciting fixture lived up to its billing with the two sides showcasing the best of football artistry to the spectators delight regardless ending the half all level .

On return for the second half, the Warriors were handed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock, no thanks to Striker Bello Lukman who failed to beat Rivers United goalkeeper from the spot.

Eje’s side pressed for a winner afterwards but all efforts were all furtile till the blast of the whistle to end proceedings at the Umuahia township stadium.

In a presser with Abia Warriros media, the highly experienced tactician who stood in the dugout for one match banned Head Coach, Erasmus Onu, expressed his disappointment following the unfavorable result.

“I’m frustrated and disappointed,” said the Warriors assistant Coach, Kelvin Ejeh.

“We were so dominant in the game, so on top, but it’s probably the same problem we’ve probably had a lot really where we don’t show enough in the final third for what we have.

“We created the most chance in the game but our striker’s failed to come to the party, hence the unfavorable outcome”

“It probably sums up where we are as a squad really – we just need a bit more in that final third. We just didn’t have enough to show for our dominance and that’s the most frustrating thing”

“We were in their box so many more times than they were in ours, we were in the final third so many more times, and there was a big difference between the two teams.

“They have set up well, they have come for a counter-attack but our back line were able to match them toe to toe”

“We have to work so hard to score our goals and break teams down, dominate the ball, move the ball and score goals.

“I’m proud of the players, they gave everything. The performance wasn’t a bad one at all.

“We managed the squad, a few people were really nursing knocks, niggles whilst some were out owing to suspension and I thought those guys did great, so in terms of that it was good” soft speaking Coach Kelvin Ejeh concluded.

Kwara United relied on Emmanuel Ogbole brace to secure an important home win against League defending champions, Enyimba International.

5. Lobi Stars vs Bayelsa United (1-1)

Bayelsa United denied Lobi Stars the right to occupy and stretch it’s lead on top of the summit as they held the League Leaders to a 1-1 draw in Nassarawa.

6. Plateau United vs Akwa United (1-2)

Struggling ‘Promise Keepers’ spoilt the party of Jos side, Plateau United as they condemned them to a defeat right in front of it’s fans.

7. Doma United vs Gombe United (1-1)

Visiting Gombe United compounded the woes of Doma United as they share all points at stake in it’s local derby.

8. Kano Pillars vs Sporting Lagos (1-0)

Umar Mustapha was the hero for Kano Pillars as his solitary strike was all the team needed for a win at home.

Lawal Kehinde: Highly Rated Nigerian Youngster Stunning Goal Earns Bayelsa United Draw At Lobi Stars

Highly rated Nigerian youngster, Kehinde Lawal, was the hero for Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Bayelsa United, as his late strike was all the team needed to cop a point away from against League Leaders, Lobi Stars.

Known for his dashing and exciting style of play, the Bayelsa United ‘Golden Boy’ was as usual handed a starting place in tough test against, Lobi Stars of Markurdi.

After struggling to grind out maximum points against, Kano Pillars on Matchday 26, Kehinde and his Bayelsa United side shifted its focus to Matchday 27 haven been drawn to face Lobi stars away from home.

After suffering a lose in Enugu at the Cathedral on Matchday 26, Lobi Stars returned home hoping to bounce back to winning ways, make up for the lost points when they trade tackles with Bayelsa United on Matchday 27.

First half of the game which ended in a barren draw witnessed the best of football artistry regardless nothing to separate the two side at half Time.

League Leaders and home side, Lobi Stars became the first to break the deadlock in the second half off the efforts of towering defenders, Chinedu Sunday at the 61st minute.

Failing to find a double, Lobi Stars who were found napping got punished at the 71st minute after sensational forward, Lawal Kehinde, made way into the opponents box to pull the strings, drawing the two sides level.

All efforts by Lobi stars to pull a come back proved abortive as Bayelsa United kept it solid to ensure a point on the road.

Bayelsa United sensational youngster, Kehinde Lawal, says they can pull off the strings when Bayelsa United trade tackles with Nigeria Professional Football League top ranking side, Lobi Stars In Nasarawa.

Lawal, who has brought both youth and experience with his dynamic style of play to the Bayelsa United squad shares his optimism ahead of the MatchDay 27 fixture.

“It has been a tough and interesting season for all teams in the NPFL, but this second half of the season has been a challenging one looking at the results week-in-week-out and the trend on the log.
