Nigeria is undoubtedly one of the best footballing nations in Africa and even in the world and the country has always produced great players, mostly from the cadet National team levels.

However, while some of those young players went on to become superstars for the West African nation’s mens’ senior team, the Super Eagles, a whole lot more of those players simply faded into oblivion.

1. Rabiu Ibrahim

2. Kelechi Nwakali
It appears now is the time for Kelechi Nwakali who is yet to fulfil expectations to make an exit from Spanish club, SD Huesca if the midfielder truly has any plan of rejuvenating his stuttering football career which promised a lot few years back.

Nwakali burst into limelight after captaining Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets team that paraded the likes of Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze to win the 2015 Under-17 World Cup in Chile.

His inspiring displays earned him the tournament’s Golden Ball ahead of Lille’s Osimhen and Mali’s Aly Malle. Nwakali’s stock rose after joining Arsenal on a five-year deal from Nigeria’s Diamond Football Academy.

And after failed loan moves to Dutch clubs, MVV Maastricht, VVV Venlo and Porto B of Portugal, the youngster was shipped out of the Emirates Stadium to Huesca in the winter transfer window in January.

Before football went into a break as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic breakout, Nwakali did not make as much as a single

appearance for the Spanish Segunda side.

There is nothing to doubt about Nwakali’s talent. There are some exquisite football qualities that the 22-year-old possesses and among them are dribbling skills and the ability to make assists.

3. Udochukwu Anumudu
The former Nigeria U17 world cup winner after a outstanding performance in 2017 failed to move further to reach the desired height he was tipped for after his performances with the Nigeria U17 in 2017.

Known for his ferocious shot, the natural lef-back finally settled in the local scene as he is currently Plying his trade with Umuahia based Nigeria topflight league giants, Abia Warriors.

4. Lukman Haruna
Rated next ‘Jay Jay Okocha’ Lukman after a blissful outing with Nigeria U17 team in 2007 Lukman teamed up French Ligue 1 giants, Monaco, where he made (44) appearances scoring (3) goals before moving to Dynamo Kiev from where his career dewindle to current state where he is club less.

Highly rated Nigeria youngster, Yusuf Abdullahi, has been spotted in training with the Nigeria Under-20 team (Flying Eagles) as the team intensified preparations for football event in the All African Games which will take place in Ghana.

The sensational goal poacher who scored five goals in game in the Nigeria topflight league with Kano Pillars was handed invite by Coach Ladan Bosso upon return from Norway.

AFCON23: Nigerians Owes José Peseiro Apologies

Failure as they said has no friends whilst success comes with lots of friends and family members inclusive.

Success never comes overnight as it requires time, consistency, believing in your craft will surely draw the much needed success closer than expected.

The Nigeria Super Eagles yesterday stepped into the semi-finals of the on-going African Cup Of Nations In Abidjan, Ivory Coast following its 1-0 win over Angola, all thanks to Lookman Ademola first half goal which was enough to separate the two sides at full time.

Prior to the African Cup Of Nations, the Nigeria Super Eagles were written off by its own country people following the team strings of poor run with its Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peseiro, described as an ‘incompetent’ Coach by many Nigeria Football enthusiasts.

José Peseiro suffered all manner of insults and cyber bullying by Nigerians as well as in the hands of the Nigeria Football Federation as he was forced to take a pay but he was undeterred knowing his worth and ability.

Nigeria Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peserio, suffered all manner of negative criticism from Nigeria Football enthusiasts, Journalists and Pundits starting from its Provisional list for the AFCON down to his list of 25 players for the competition.

The Portuguese gaffer amidst all negative criticism remained focused and never allowed side talks from naysayers distract him as he knows his Onion and was ready to prove it.

“We said it, the Nigeria Super Eagles team is too big for Jose Peserio to handle, the team cannot qualify for group stages ” these were words of many Nigerians, pundits and analysts after the team 1-1 draw in its first game in Group A against Equatorial Guinea.

The team squared up against host Nation, Ivory Coast and cruised to a 1-0 win and went ahead to record a 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau to secure a place in the round of 16 but still, the Coach Jose Peserio tutored side was under fire as they described the team qualification as a fluke.

In all group stages, the Nigeria Super Eagles team conceded only once and still stretched its clean-sheet with their 2-0 win over Cameroon in the round of 16 down to its 1-0 win over Angola in the quarter-finals.

Against all odds, against all criticism by Naysayers, Coach Jose Peserio has silenced all criticism against him with success stories following the Nigeria Super Eagles qualifications for the semi-finals of the AFCON.

At this point, Nigerian football enthusiasts, Journalists, Analysts and Pundits needs to unanimously come together and tender an apology to the Nigeria Super Eagles gaffer as his big feats in the AFCON has brought smiles in the faces of millions of Nigerians who called for his sack prior to the competition.

As early stated, Success takes time and requires consistent as Jose Peserio has turned around the fortunes of the Nigeria Super Eagles team in the AFCON with its high level of consistency in formations and personnel’s.

With the team setting it’s eyes on the trophy, Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peserio deserves an apology letter from all Nigerians who doubted his ability.
