Geofrey Musa; We Will Fight To Finish Respectably

The Center Back who is also comfortable playing right full back for Bayelsa United has stated that his team will give their best shot to ensure they finish respectably and not return back to the second tier of Nigeria league football.

Bayelsa United who only gained promotion alongside Doma United, El-kanemi and Bendel Insurance have only recorded 5 points out of an available 18 points and if their form do not improve going forward, may suffer relegation at the end of season and return back to the Nigeria National League(second tier of Nigeria league football) but the club’s versatile defender has stated that they are undeterred and will keep fighting to ensure they end well.

Bayelsa United are 8th on the Group B log with 6 games.

The club’s week seven game was postponed as a result of their opponent (Rivers United)’s involvement in the CAF Continental competition

Shooting Stars Football Club Centre Forward, Adekunle Ayobami reacting to his side win over Kano Pillars yesterday stated that what is more important is that they are getting the needed results and got the maximum point against one of the best team in the league.
The former ASPAC centre forward who has scored three goals in the current campaign while speaking with the media mentioned that the goals will come and that he is more contended and will choose team victory over his individual aspiration. In his words, “my primary role is to score goals but today I will celebrate the team’s victory because this is very significant and with this win, we are keeping our aspirations to finish as one of the top three teams at the end of the league. So for us today, the team securing a vital win against one of the league’s giants and one of the most successful team in the Nigeria Professional Football League is good for the tream’s confidence. I believe the goals will come and I will definitely get goals as the league progresses as my personal ambition is to get a double number at the end of the season’ concluded Ayobami.
Shooting Stars will now face Lobi Stars in an away tie on 26th of November, 2023.
Lobi and Shooting Stars are currently placed second and third respectively with both teams amassing 17 points so far from 9 matches. The two side will be looking to edge each other to stamp their supremacy in the current football league campaign

Oriental Derby: Okike Chinemerem Solitary Strike Sinks Heartland FC In Umuahia

Highly rated Nigeria youngster, Okike Chinemerem, opened his goal account in the Nigeria top-flight league on his full home debut as his solitary strike made the difference in the Oriental derby.

The Supreme Kings Academy graduate who joined Nigeria Professional League outfit, Abia Warriors, was handed a place to feature in the prestigious ORIENTAL Derby, a faith in him which he repaid with the only goal of the fixture.

Okike who lasted till the 70th minute was the cynosure of all eyes playing from the side as he wrecked havoc upfront and was alive to his offensive and defensive duties.

After suffering a loss in Lafia against Lobi Stars, Abia Warriors returned home to face its oriental neighbours, Heartland Football Club at the Umuahia township stadium.

Inconsistent Heartland Football Club side who hasn’t been in its best form were faced with an uphill task haven been drawn to lock horns with Abia Warriors in Umuahia.

First half of the game lived up to its billing as the host, Abia Warriors, opened scoring off the boots of its youngster, Okike Chinemerem, who poked in a goal mouth scramble.

Second half of the fixture turned an end to end stuff as Okike’s strike was all Abia Warriors needed to record another home win.

Next for the Umuahia warlords is a midweek fixture with Sunshine Stars in Akure.

Ugwunna Chidera: Superstars FA Graduate Shines In NPL Debut For Abia Warriors

Promising Nigerian youngster, Chidera Ugwunna, made his debut and started for his new clubside, Abia Warriors FC, in the 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes in one of the Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 1 fixtures played earlier today in Umuahia.

The Superstar Football Academy, Uyo, graduate who joined Nigeira Premier side, Abia Warriros was handed a starting place as he commanded actions from the middle of the park for the team advantage.

The petit midfielder recorded Abia Warriors first shot on target as he dazzled his markers to unleash an effort at goal which missed back of the net by whiskers.

The Coach Erasmus Onu tutored Abia Warriros staged attack on its visitors at kick-off had early chances to establish lead but failed to make it count likewise the visitors to bring the half time score line to a stalemate.

On return for the second half, Abia Warriors gaffer substitution seemed to work the most as lethal forward, Obi Samson, combined with John Peter to break the deadlock at the 81st minute.

The Umuahia warlords defended stoutly till final whistle to kickoff the new season on a winning run.
