FMSPORTS9 SPORTS AGENCY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, RHODAH ADMONISES ZIFA, SRC & FIFA TO ALL COME TO A COMPROMISE AND LIFT SUSPENSION OF FOOTBALL IN ZIMBABWE

Published

on

In November 2021, Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) President Felton Kamambo and the entire elected executive of ZIFA were removed by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), a government body that controls sports in Zimbabwe, after it accused ZIFA of corruption, misadministration and sexual harassment of female match officials.
Three months after, for refusal of the SRC to comply with a FIFA directive to reinstate those officials, Zimbabwe were expelled from participating in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
As a result of this suspension, not only have football activities been halted in the country but the dreams of thousands of talents from Zimbabwe have also stalled and the parties especially the SRC are not looking to shift ground on the issue.

Rhodah Chipendo, an Executive Director at South Africa based Sports Agency, FMSPORTS9 Sports Agency has now cautioned all the major stakeholders involved in the crisis rocking Zimbabwe Football Association(ZIFA) to all come to a compromise and lift the FIFA suspension on Zimbabwe Football.

Speaking with the media, Rhodah who is a Zimbabwe National married to a Nigerian Football business entrepreneur and licensed intermediary, Femi Bamisaye says she is particularly concerned with the situation and she fears if this crisis continues to linger, it will have a long lasting adverse effect on football in the country.
In her words, ‘’when this matter first started in November 2021, we thought within a few weeks, the matter will be resolved. We thought it was a genuine intervention by the SRC but the approach from the beginning was not very good. For anyone familiar with the laws of FIFA on government interference, the penalty is always suspension and I thought the SRC could have rather than taking over football affairs, set up an Independent committee within the FA that will conduct an investigation within a given timeline and will be saddled with the responsibility of reporting within that given timeline back to it and it can then influence the football congress to carry out a vote of no confidence on the leadership of ZIFA but this approach employed by the SRC seems to have cost us so much. We are not going to be participating in the AFCON, the league has been halted for over a year and the dreams of many youths who actively participates in the sport have been cut short by the actions of the Sports and Recreation Commission and this is really pathetic and portends treading on a dangerous part for the future of our football.’ Stated Rhodah
She then went on to appeal to the parties to quickly find a lasting solution to the crisis and ensure football activities returns to the country.
‘’I will like to appeal to all football stakeholders, from the Government represented by the SRC, FIFA and ZIFA to all come to a round table and faction out a roadmap to end this crisis, so that normalcy can return back to our football’’ concluded Rhodah Chipendo
