Five (5) Victor Osimhen’s Possible Replacement In The Super Eagles

After playing an important role during the International break to help the Nigeria Super Eagles qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers series, Nigerian Super Eagless striker, Victor Osimhen, suffered a big set back on return to action with his Italian based outfit, Napoli.

The Nigeria Super Eagles striker at the weekend was stretched off the pitch in his team disappointing lose against, Inter Milan, and was announced to have had a broken cheekbone.

In an official statement from his Italian Seria A outfit on Monday, Osimhen who had a surgery on his cheekbone and eye socket is expected to be out for 3 months.s

Following the stipulated return of the striker, the Super Eagle’s talisman may be left out of the Qatar 2022 Africa qualifiers series and the African Cup of Nations, a heavy blow for the Nigeria Super Eagles team.

With the Striker possibly missing some vital matches and the Africa Nations Cup, here are five Strikers who might be possible drafted in to take his place.

1. Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin, Germany)


The current Union Berlin all time highest goal scorer, Taiwo Awoniyi, ranks as the possible replacement for injured Victor Osimhen in the Nigeria Super Eagles team.

Awoniyi who was handed an invite to camp during the October qualifiers against, Central Africa Republic, is arguably one of the hottest Nigerian Striker in Europe who can fit into the shoes of injured Victor Osimhen.

2. Ezikiel Henty (Slovan Bratislava, Slovakia)


The current Slovan Bratislava highest goal scorer is one striker who could be handed an invite to the Nigeria Super Eagles team to replace injured Victor Osimhen following his terrific form.

Henty has been consistent for two (2) season in the Slovakian top-flight league and looks as a perfect striker to take the place of injured Victor Osimhen.

3. Cyril Dessers (Feyenoord, Netherland)


Nigeria international, Cyril Dessers, who currently plys his trade with Dutch giants, Feyenoord, on loan from Belgian side, Genk, is the most likely striker who could be handed the Eagles Number 9 jersey following Victor Osimhen’s injury.

The light skinned striker who first made his debut in the Green-White-Green colour in the Super Eagles (1-1) friendly match against Tunisia in October 2022 is arguably one striker who could be considered to return to the Super Eagles camp with Victor Osimhen sidelined.

4. Samuel Adegbenro (Norrkoping, Sweden)


The Swedish based striker is one striker who could be considered for the replacement of Victor Osimhen following his terrific form in the Swedish Allevenkan league.

Adegbenro who currently leads the goal scorers chart in the current Swedish topflight league with (17) goals would be a good replacement for injured Osimhen.

5. Sadiq Umar (Almeria, Spain)


For the past two seasons, former Nigeria U23 striker, Sadiq Umar, has been consistent in the Spanish Segunda Liga as he ends every season with double digit goals.

Umar would be considered for Osimhen replacement considering his mind blowing stats in the Spanish second tier league.

Highly rated Nigerian defender, Joshua Akpudje, has been listed in the Erovnuli Liga Team Of The Week following his stellar performance in FC Dinamo Tbilisi 2-0 home win over Samgurali.

Akpudje and his FC Dinamo Tbilisi side squared up against Samgurali in its first Matchday of the season hoping to start on the front foot with a victory when the two sides lock horns at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.

The keenly contested fixture had the host, FC Dinamo Tbilisi opening scoring at the 10th minute and doubled its lead at the 32nd second goal to end the first half infront and all maximum points at full time.

Ahmed Musa Parts Ways with Sivasspor FC by Mutual Consent

In a surprising turn of events, Nigerian international Ahmed Musa has ended his stint with Turkish giants Sivasspor FC. Both parties reached a mutual agreement to terminate the player’s contract, which was announced earlier last week.

Ahmed Musa, who’s known for his blistering pace and attacking prowess, joined Sivasspor with high expectations. He was deemed a significant addition to the team’s offensive line, with hopes that his experience at the top level would provide an edge in competition.
