FC ONE ROCKET exits FA Cup Victorious

The FA Cup game in the round of 64 was a truly emotional experience for Akwa Ibom based NNL club FC ONE ROCKET regardless of the outcome. The intended outcome for the NPFL side Lobi Stars Football Club of Markudi did not go as expected to spectators and Lobi Stars.

It’s a rare thing for the fourth round of the FA Cup to feature a game where the underdogs of the NNL outplayed the NPFL Lobi Stars Football Club. The match played was more than just a normal game after the underdogs from the NNL side superseded the expectation of the spectators by dragging the NPFL Lobi Stars to a 2-2 draw which finally ended in penalty.

Here are the match analysis;

  • FC ONE ROCKET dominated (keeping possession of the ball) the game by over 70% to 30%.
  • Lobi Stars FC were exhausted after its first half leaving FC ONE ROCKET in control of the whole game.
  • Lobi Stars was on the defensive most of the time.
  • The last minute goal was as a result of FC ONE ROCKET’s defense being relaxed after leading by 2-1.
  • The middle of the pitch saw some tough battles as both sides tried to rob their opponents of the ball.
  • FC ONE ROCKET midfielders worked extremely hard, making it difficult for Lobi to get through the centre. FC ONE ROCKET needed and ought to have won and it was glaring from their play.
  • The first goal by Lobi against FC ONE ROCKET only made the players work harder which fueled the 2-1 lead before Lobi Stars equalized.
  • Clinton Jephta was exceptional with the ball as well as Wonderson Yakubu who scored both goals respectively for the visiting team. At the back, the national team player Charles Etim was always on top of his game mounting guard at the back.
  • The two star boys of Lobi Stars did not perform much wonders in this game as anticipated.

So who won the battle for the middle? FC ONE ROCKET dominated possession and chances in an even encounter, but Lobi won the tie and were more clinical with the ball.

Lobi Stars, with a goal advantage, were content to counterattack through quick transitions, Lobi stopped building from the back and used long kicks from goalkeeper and defenders to escape the heavy pressure.

In general, the Akwa Ibom based club FC ONE ROCKET club stole the show at the stadium, being their first time reaching this stage of in the Federation cup. The team is expected to play in Bayelsa this weekend against Henserd FC at the Samson Siasia sports stadium by 4pm. FC ONE ROCKET is currently 2nd in their group while Lobi Stars is topping in their group.

FC ONE will be a good addition to the NPFL if they can make it pass NNL this season.

Nigerian International Star, Charles Etim, Shines as FC ONE Rocket Triumphs Over Solution FC

Nigeria Youth International, Charles Etim was excellent as FC ONE Rocket defeated Solution FC 1-0 in a Nigeria National League (NNL) match on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Etim, who has represented Nigeria at U-17 and U-20 national team level, was named as a defensive midfielder by FC ONE Rocket head coach Ndubisi Ndah for the Nigeria National League week nine encounter at the Eket Stadium, on Saturday.

In a keenly contested fixture, the Rockets faced severe pressure from the visiting Solution FC of Anambra but emreged unscathed due to the excellent performance from Charles Etim who provided sufficient cover for the back four of Solomon Boyo, Goforth Amedu, Reagan Egwebuike and Bidemi Obudu.

Columba Augustine, Charles Ikenna and Onotu Emmanuel all came close to scoring the opening goal for FC ONE Rocket but it was center-back Solomon Boyo who scored with a rocket effort for his first-ever goal for the Indomitables.

That goal sparked pressure from the visiting Anambra State based Solution FC but their efforts were repelled by the Rockets with Blessed Stars Football Academy product, Charles Etim outstanding with his timely tackles, interceptions and passes.

At the expiration of regulation time, the match ended 1-0 in favour of FC ONE Rocket at the Eket Stadium, an important win for the indomitables who last-season missed out on top-flight promotion at the super eight playoffs.


After the match, fans at the Eket Stadium who spoke to Nigeriasportsnews.com Nsikakabasi Akpan hailed the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles defender’s performance in the game, saying it brought back memories of the 2022/2023 season.

With the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League season approaching the half-way point, Charles Etim a member of Nigeria’s 2019 Golden Eaglets set is subject of transfer enquiry from multiple clubs, with his profile, versality, work rate and set-piece ability in hot demand.

Promising Nigeria forward, Jonah James, continued with his impressive goal scoring form in the current Nigeria National League season as he fired a brace to inspire, Abia Comets 3-1 home win against Dakkada FC.

Known for his goal scoring prowess, the bulky forward was handed another start against Dakkada FC and went ahead to justify his inclusion with a brace to earn MOTM.

First half of the keenly anticipated game lived up to its billing with the two sides showing off the best of football artistry as the host, Abia Conets, went ahead to record a 2-0 lead at half time.

Upon restart for the second half, Abia Comets side added to its goal numbers with its bullish forward, Jonah James completing his brace.

Dakkada FC pulled a goal off a set piece from legendary Anieken Ekpe to bring the final scoreline to 3-1.
