Done Deal: Southampton FC Lands Super Eagles Striker Paul Onuachu From Genk

English Premier League outfit, Southampton Football Club has bolstered it’s attacking force following the signing of Nigerian striker, Paul Onuachu from Belgian side, K.R.C. Genk.

Born on 28 May 1994, 28-year-old Onuachu moved to Danish club FC Midtjylland in 2012, on a scholarship, from their affiliate team in Nigeria, Ebedei.

He was a prolific scorer for their youth team, and made his first-team debut in the Cup later that year, before making his league debut in December 2012.

In June 2013 he signed a new three-year contract with the club, before extending it for a further three-years in August 2015.

In early 2015 he was loaned to Vejle BK, before returning to FC Midtjylland ahead of the 2015–16 season.

In August 2019 he signed for Belgian club Genk, in Genk Onuachu turned a dreaded striker as he fired the Belgian side, Genk to greater heights to emerge Belgian First Division A Top goalscorer (2020–21) Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year (2020–21) Belgian Golden Shoe (2022) and Belgian First Division A Team the Year (2020–21)

On 1 February 2023, Onuachu signed for Premier League club Southampton on a three-and-a-half-year contract to team up with fellow Compatriot, Joe Aribo in the English based side.

The host, ES Hammam-Sousse, were the first to break the deadlock at the 40th minute, a goal which separated the two sides at half time.

On re-emergence for the second half, ES Hammam-Sousse ran riot over Avenir Sportif de Soliman to score (4) goals with Nigerian born Recording a brace and his fellow Compatriot, Godspower Aniefiok, scoring last goal of the game.

With the brace against Avenir Sportif de Soliman, David Akpan Ankeye thus has (4) league goals to his name.
