January Transfer Window: Check out 24 Nigerian Stars Who Joined New Clubs

It was an exciting January transfer window as teams were actively involved in the recruitment of players with the hopes of bolstering it’s squad depth for the tasks ahead.

Nigerian internationals weren’t left out as many completed transfers to team up with new clubs.

Below are the Nigerian international who signed for new Clubsides in the just concluded January transfer window.

1. Innocent Bonke (Lorient FC, France)


The Nigeria Super Eagles defensive midfielder, Innocent Bonke, after years of successful stints with Swedish topflight league giants, Malmo FF, opted for fresh challenge as he teamed up with French Ligue 1 side, Lorient FC, in the just concluded January transfer.

2.Yira Collins Sor (Slavia Prague, Czech Republic)


The Nigerian junior international after a breakthrough season with Czech Republic outfit, Baník Ostrava, attracted interest from various top clubs in the concluded transfer window, the wing wizard signed the footed lines for Czech Republic giant’s, Slavia Prague.

3. Ezekiel Henty (Al-Hazem F.C, Saudi Arabia)


Highly rated center forward, Ezikiel Henty, who ranked as one the highest goal scorers in the Slovakian top-flight league surprisingly took a walk away from the club as he signed for Saudi Arabian based side,Al-Hazem FC.

4. Adeleke Akinola Akinyemi (Laçi, Albania)


The little know Nigerian international in the just concluded January transfer window completed a move to Albania to team up with, Laçi, from Norwegian OBOS-LIGAEN outfit, Hamarkameratene.

5. Nsumoh Johnson Kalu (Birkirkara FC, Malta)


Highly rated Nigerian eligible striker, Nsumoh Johnson Kalu, after a scillinating performance with Maltase side, Mosta FC, completed a move in the concluded transfer window as he joined Maltase side,Birkirkara FC.

6. Aniekpeno Christopher Udo (Al-Kholood, Saudi Arabia)


Saudi Arabia first division oufit, Al-Kholood, in the just concluded January transfer window landed Nigerian international, Aniekpeno Christopher Udo, from Finnish topflight league side, Kuopion Palloseura.

7. Anthony Chigaemezu Uzodimma (Ankara Keçiörengücü)


Turkish second tier league outfit, Ankara Keçiörengücü, in the just concluded January Transfer Window, landed the services of highly rated Nigerian Midfielder, Anthony Chigaemezu Uzodimma, from Turkish outfit, Kayserispor.

8. Philip Otele (Asociația Fotbal Club UTA, Romania)


Unheralded Nigerian eligible left wing wizard, Philip Otele, in the just concluded January transfer window completed a dream move to team up Romanian topflight league giants, Asociația Fotbal Club UTA Arad.

9. Azubuike Godson Okechukwu (Yeni Malatyaspor, Turkey)


Former Turkish topflight league winner, Azubuike Godson Okechukwu, in the just concluded January transfer window, completed a long season loan move from Turkish topflight outfit, İstanbul Başakşehir to Yeni Malatyaspor.

10. Mikel Ndubuisi Agu (Fuenlabrada, Spain)


Spanish and Fuenlabrada based outfit, Club de Fútbol Fuenlabrada, S.A.D, in the concluded FIFA January transfer window completed the signing of Nigerian International, Mikel Ndubuisi Agu, from Portugues Clubside, Vitória de Guimarães.

11. John Ogu (Hapoel Nof Hafalil, Israel)


Nigerian international, John Ogu, who had been off action returned back to the Israeli topflight league but this time, the Nigerian international teamed up with Israeli side, Hapoel Nof Hafalil, on a short term deal.

12. Onazi Ogenyi (Aladalah club, Saudi Arabia)


Former Lazio and Nigeria Super Eagles Midfielder, Onazi, in the just concluded January transfer window signed up with Saudi Arabia topflight league giants, Aladalah Club.

13. Ubong Ekpai (Baník Ostrava, Czech Republic)


Former Akwa United striker, Ubong Ekpai, in the Week under review teamed up with Czech Republic first division outfit, FC Baník Ostrava, from Slavia Prague.

14. Samuel Kalu (Watford FC, England)
Nigeria Super Eagles striker, Samuel Kalu in the week under review completed a move to team up with English Premier league campaigners, Watford FC, from French Ligue 1 side, Girondins de Bordeaux.


Highly rated and former Nigeria International, James Omonigho Igbekeme, under the week in review completed a loan move to team up with, United States Major League Soccer outfit, The Columbus Crew from Real Zaragoza.

16. Ahmad Abubakar Ghali (Slovan Liberec, Czech Republic)


Highly rated former Nigeria U17 striker, Ahmad Abubakar Ghali, in the week under review struck out a deal which had him sign for Czech Republic top-flight league outfit, Slovan Liberec, from Slovakian topflight league side, Trenčín.

17.Paul Omo Mukairu (FC Cophengen, Denmark)


Highly rated Nigerian 21-years-old, Paul Mukairu, completed a surprising move away from Turkish outfit side, Antalyspor, to join Danish top-flight league giant’s, FC Copenhagen.

18. Godwin Chika Okwara (Al-Shorta SC, Iraq)


Iraqi topflight league giants,Al-Shorta SC, in the just concluded January transfer window acted the quickest to land Nigeria international, Godwin Chika Okwara, from Uzbekistan topflight league giants, FK Mash’al Mubarek.

19. Odion Jude Ighalo (Al Hilal FC, Saudi Arabia)


In the just concluded Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Odion Jude Ighalo, completed a shocking move to join Saudi Arabia topflight league side, Al Hilal FC, from Al-Shababa.

20 .Akinkunmi Ayobami Amoo (FC Copenhagen, Denmark)


Former Nigeria U17 star and Petit winger took the media space by storm today following his surprising move to Danish top-flight league giant’s, FC Copenhagen, from Swedish topflight league giants, Hammarby Fotboll IF.

21..Abdul Jeleel Ajagun (Al-Hilal Club (Omdurman)


Former Nigeria U20 skipper, Abdul Jeleel Ajagun, earlier today confirmed his move from South African giant’s,Cape Town City Football Club, to Sudanese side, Al-Hilal Club (Omdurman)

21. Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo (Parma Calcio 1913, Italy)


Nigeria Super Eagles striker, Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo, completed a late hour move from Italian Seria A outfit, Salernitana to Italian Seria B side, Parma Calcio 1913, on loan.

22. Josh Maja (Stock City, England)


English Championship outfit, Stoke City Football Club, in the just concluded January transfer window, completed the signing of Nigeria Super Eagles Striker, Joshua Erowoli Orisunmihare Oluwaseun,on loan from French topflight league side,FC Girondins de Bordeaux.

23.Oluwafemi Sapara (Portimonense S.C, Portugal)


Highly rated Nigerian eligible Midfielder, Sapara, in the just concluded transfer window completed the move to team up with Portuguese side, Portimonense S.C,

24. Charles Atshimene (Leixões SC, Portugal)


The former Nigeria professional football league highest goal scorer in the just concluded window completed a loan move from CD Feirense to Leixões SC.

Actions resumed across top European, Asian and Scandevian leagues as teams continued their quest for domestic glory in their various leagues.

In over a thousand games played across top leagues at the weekend, Nigerian players were outstanding with their various clubsides and here are (14) Nigerian stars who found back of the net at the weekend in review.

1. Abdulrazak Ishaq (BK Hacken, Sweden)

Golden boy came off the bench to kill off the game for BK Hacken as his second half goal doubled the team lead and earned the team a 2-0 win at full time.

2. Adediran Quadri (Banik Ostrava, Czech Republic)

The Nigerian wing-wizard scored his first goal for Banik Ostrava as his side cruised to a big win away from home.

3. Ade Oguns (Wydad Athletic Club, Morocco)

The sensational goal scorer was the hero for WAC as his solitary goal earned the team a 1-0 win over Berkane in Botola League.

4. Victor Olatunji (Sparta Prague, Czech Republic)

The towering forward recorded a goal and an assist to help Sparta Prague subdue Zlin away from home on a 2-1 scoreline.

5. Ihezuo Chinwendu (Pachuca, Mexico)

‘Unstoppable Ihezuo fired in a brace in Pachuca big win in the Mexican Femenil.

6. Ifeagwu Ojukwu (Chittagong Abahani, Bangladesh)

Ifeagwu Ojukwu returned in his scoring element at the weekend to score a brace to help his side secure a point in a 2-2 draw and still carted away MOTM award for the third time in a row.

7. Francis Momoh (Grasshoppers Zurich, Switzerland)

Momoh was the tormented in chief of FC Basel defenders as he scored his side first goal in their 2-1 win over Basel.

8. Iwuala Anayo (Al-Arabi, Kuwait)

Iwuala opened the flood gate of goals to inspire Al-Arabi 6-3 win over Al Naser.

13. Ohi Omoijuanfo (Brondby, Denmark)

The Nigerian-Norwegian forward scored Brondby only goal and only goal in the game in their win over FC Midtjylland.

14. Kadiri Attah (Francis Borains, Belgium)

Another game, Another goal for Kadiri Attah as his side cruised to a 2-1 win.

15. Abdullahi Ahmed (Jong Gent, Belgium)

The Nigeria Under-20 ace recorded a goal and an assist in his side 2-2 stalemate.

It was ‘tea time’ at the weekend as Genk stole a 3-1 win over RWDM.

Official: Top Talent Efe Kegbe Joins Eliteserien Side Lillestrøm SK

Norwegian Eliteserien League side, Lillestrom SK, has completed the signing of highly rated Nigerian forward, Efe Kegbe, from FC One Rocket.

Efe Kegbe who started his professional football career in Nigeria enjoyed stint with Nigeria National League side, FC One Rocket, where he shone like a million stars in the NNL league which brought him to limelight.

Efe Kegbe talent was given a chance to showcases his talent in the Norway with Norwegian Eliteserien league side, Lillestrom SK, and impressed which landed him a deal with the Norwegian based side.

Signing on a Five-Year deal, Efe Kegbe is primed to follow the footsteps of fellow compatriot trio of Igoh Ogbu, Ifeanyi Mathew and Akor Adams who plied their trade with the Norwegian before moving to join Slavia Praha, Montepellier and FC Zurich respectively.

Speaking after his unveiling, Efe Kegbe expressed his delight to pen a deal with Lillestrom a club he has been following whilst in Nigeria and is excited to don the jersey of the top club side.

The deal which was concluded by both parties yesterday was brokered by topmost Nigerian Agent, Attah Aneke of the Players Management Group

Official: Nigeria Under-17 Ace Ebube Okere Joins Turkish Side Boluspor

Turkish TFF First League side, Boluspor, has completed the transfer of highly rated Nigeria Under-17 ace, Ebube Wisdom Okere, from Nigerian based side, Ofirima Football Club.

Started his football career with Ofirima Football, Ebube Wisdom Okere, exciting development earned him a call-up to the Nigeria Under-17 team where he his immense talent made his stand-out in back to back games with the Nigeria Golden Eaglets in WAFU Cup.

Golden fish has no hiding place, Wisdom Ebube Okere, five-star performance with the Nigeria Under-17 team during the WAFU Cup had him on top radar of top European and Scandevia leagues jostling for his signature.

To continue his development, the Nigeria youngster opts for Turkish side, Boluspor, where his tipped to have a quick impact in the stars studded Boluspor side.
