Chairmanship Aspirant, Harrison Okaka In The Owan West And East LGA elections Cites Irregularities In Elections, Vows To Challenge Results

Mr Harrison Okaka, an astute stakeholder and football administrator who contested for the position of Chairman in the recently concluded Owan East election has vowed to challenge the outcome of the results that produced one Mr Rasheed Oyakhire as Chairman.
While speaking with newsmen, the Proprietor of Dynamo Academicals stated that the election was marred with irregularities and he and his team have vowed to contest the outcome. In his word, “we will contest the decision and in fact, we have immediately commenced the process to challenge the result that produced Mr Rasheed Oyakhire as Chairman. I have already written to the Chairman of the appeals committee, Mr Monday Eguavoen and our arguments are;
That a certain Garuba Burushaga who presented himself as one of the delegates and voted in the election is not a recognised member of either of Owan West and East LGA and he is even currently contesting for the position of Vice Chairman in Esako LGA which makes him ineligible to have presented himself as a delegate for the Owan East elections.
That some of the Referees who served as delegates and voted in the election are not recognised members of the Edo State Referees Association and we can authoritatively confirm to you that this claim has been confirmed by the Chairman, Edo State Referees Association, Sylvester Okungbowa who confirmed that some of the delegates who paraded themselves as delegates representing the Referees Association are not from the state.
Also reiterating the position of Harrison Okaka is Abudurazaki Yahya, another aspirant in the contest who in his written petition addressed to the appeals committee Chairman and which reads in part ; ” That Mr Okungbowa Sylvester, the State Chairman referees association in Edo State confirmed that Mr Imiehe Blessing and Mr Asimu Abdulrahman who were assigned as referees delegates and voted in the election are not members of the referees association’
The petition further reads ‘That Mr Michael Edeki, one of the delegates assigned to represent the coaches is neither a coach in Owan West nor Owan East.’
The document further reads “that we want to draw the attention of the Chairman, appeals committee to the fact that the same names/list presented as delegates for the election had been earlier rejected which led to the cancellation and rescheduling of the election and the same rejected list was what was now finally presented for the elections”
Other irregularities were cited including assault and intimidation on one Mr Odion who in the process lost valuables. The case was also included in the filed petition according to Harrison Okaka.
Mr Harrison believes they will get a fair hearing as he sees the Chairman, appeals committee has someone upright who believes in equity and justice and he expects the appeals committee to conduct their due diligence before taking a final decision on the matter
