Annual Superstars Scouting Tournament kicks off In Style And Glamour

It was a gathering of top Academy sides in Nigeria as the 4th edition of the annual Superstars Scouting Tournament kicked off today in the Seren city of Uyo with a legion of foreign scouts in attendance.

Matchday one fixtures of the highly anticipated scouting tournament lived up to its billing with all the invited teams showing off the best of football artistry to the foreign scouts and spectators delight.

In a brief chat with Nigeriasportsnews.com, the Programme converner, Hon.Victor Apugo who doubles as the President of Superstars Football Academy expressed delight with the level and intensity in all the games played today and as well looks forward to more exciting times in subsequent matchdays of the tournament.

The on-going Superstars Academy’s scouting programme has grown to become one of the best in the country with so many players currently plying their trades in Europe and North America owning their success stories to the programme.

As usual, this year’s tournament is hope to surpasses last year’s edition which saw almost a dozen young players realize their dreams of playing professional football outside the shores of Nigeria. Chief amongst them are Nelson Orji and Emenike Nwogu at Atlanta United, Harrison Uchenna and David Jaja at Czech side Slovan Liberec, Preciuos Nwankwo and Moses Emmanuel at Sigma Olomouc, Grant Williams(MSK Vyskov), Kingsley Ugochukwu(La Nucia) and many others.

In a sad turn of events, players from the renowned 1472 Football Club (F.C.) have taken to the streets to protest against the non-payment of their salaries. The historic football team, known for its rich legacy and passionate fanbase, has been rocked by financial troubles, leaving its players in a state of distress.

The players which as a result of the unpaid salaries have protested against the management of the team due to to unpaid wages, it can be recalled that earlier this year the club owner Dozy Mmobuosi ran into financial issues with the US SEC. It is reported that the players have not received their salaries for several months, leading to frustration.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, one player expressed their disappointment, stating, “We have dedicated our hearts and souls to this club, only to be left without the basic financial support we deserve. It’s disheartening to see the club’s financial mismanagement affecting our livelihoods.”

The situation has garnered attention from football enthusiasts and supporters in Nigeria, as the news of the protest spread like wildfire across social media platforms. Fans are expressing their solidarity with the players, urging the club’s management to swiftly address the issue and fulfill their obligations.

The financial woes of 1472 F.C. have been a cause for concern in recent months. Reports suggest that mismanagement and unforeseen financial setbacks have contributed to the club’s inability to meet its financial obligations. The unpaid salaries have not only affected the players but also cast a shadow over the club’s reputation. The owner currently faces charges in the US and Nigeria over allegations of fraud. We gathered that Dozy Mmobousi’s assets were frozen by the US SEC and subsequently the team started having issues paying salary and hasn’t been able to fulfil financial obligations to players and management since then.

NPFL Youth League: Abia Warriros Board Member Francis Chilaka Expresses The Team Readiness To Compete

Abia Warriors FC Board member, Francis Chilaka, has expressed Abia Warriors Under-17 squad readiness to challenge for glory in the South-East center (Enugu) ahead of the maiden edition of the Nigeria professional league youth league

Speaking to Nigeriasportsnews.com Editor, Nwosu Chygoz, from Enugu, the Abia Warriors Board member popularly known as ‘Owo-texas , remained optimistic ahead of the tourney as he described the Abia Warriors Under-17 team as the Future of the Abia Warriors team in the Nigeria elite league.

“The Abia Warriors Under-17 team is not here to make-up numbers but we are poised to give the competition our best shot as we eye the South-East slot for the next round of the competition at the National level”

“The Kids were carefully selected and every player in the Abia Warriors contingent falls into the organizers requirements for eligibility”

” I want to also use this medium to appreciate the ‘Numero Uno’ Citizen of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Oti’ for his continued finical and moral support to the Abia Warriors team at large”

“Governor Oti is a blessing to Abia State and I know his people oriented policies wi position the state where it righfully belong”

In conclusion, Chilaka commended Abia Warriors Chairman, John Obuh, for piloting the affairs of the club towards the right direction ” the soft speaking football enthusiast concluded.

After the final screening, Abia Warrior’s are billed to lock horns with Heartland, Enugu Rangers, Enyimba International in the three days tourney as the winner from the Enugu Zone will represent South-East at the National level.

OUR PREPARATION IS IN TOP GEAR – FLYING EAGLES FC OF ENUGU CEO

Flying Angels FC CEO and Club Proprietor, Emeka Onyia has stated that their preparation for the 2024 football season is in top gear.
Flying Angels FC were losing finalist in last year’s edition of the Enugu State league losing the final to Inter FC of Enugu by a goal to nil.
Despite a recent setback in a friendly match against Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu, where Flying Angels FC lost by three goals to nil, Onyia expressed in a recent media interview that this result would not deter them, and it would have no negative impact on their ongoing preparations for the upcoming season.
Onyia stated, “Our preparation for the 2024 football season is progressing exceptionally well. Since our resumption on January 9, we have played three games – winning one, losing one, and drawing one. We are firmly on track with our preparation. The purpose of these preparatory games is to ensure that we are in peak condition for the upcoming season. We will be participating in the Federation Cup and the Enugu State league, aiming to surpass our performance from last season. Having reached the final last year, where we narrowly lost to Inter FC, our goal this season is to exceed that achievement.
Flying Angels FC has played three games since resuming on January 9, securing a 4-1 victory against Jlove Academy, experiencing a defeat against the Nigeria Premier Football League side, Rangers Int’l FC, Enugu, with a scoreline of three goals to nil, and drawing against Junior Rangers. The team’s top scorer, Chibuike Paul Nwodo, who has scored nine goals in his last six games, once again found the back of the net for Flying Angels FC in the match held earlier today
