Aniekeme Okon: Nigerian International Exquisite Header Salvage Point For Remo Stars

Former Nigeria U20 midfielder, Aniekeme Okon, was the hero for Nigeria professionally football league outfit, Remo Stars, as his exquisite header salvaged a point for the Skye blue stars in Ibadan.

The petit midfield maestro was exceptional in the keenly contested fixture and went ahead to top his performance with a goal to save his side from defeat.

After been held to a barren draw last time out, Remo Stars were faced with a big task haven going to engage in a fierce derby in its next fixture.

Ibadan based side, Shooting Stars were faced with an uphill task on Matchday 13 haven been drawn to face, Remo Stars in a derby.

Home side, Shooting Stars were the first to make statement in the fixture and the Coach Ogunbote tutored side went ahead to grab a lead before the half time break.

Thinking it was Uhuru, Remo Stars winger, Aniekeme Okon came through with a header to level up things, to send Remo Stars fans into cloud 9.

After 90mins, Okon’s effort was enough to earn Remo stars a point on the road

Journalist, Nwosu ‘Chygoz’ Chigozie takes us through a review on how things paned out on Matchday 27 in the Nigeria professional league.

1. Heartland vs Rangers (1-2)

The Flying Antelopes completed a double over its oriental brothers in an oriental derby as the Enugu based side clinched a 1-2 win away from home to topple league leaders, Lobi Stars.

Highly rated Nigerian youngster, Kehinde Lawal, was the hero for Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Bayelsa United, as his late strike was all the team needed to cop a point away from against League Leaders, Lobi Stars.

Known for his dashing and exciting style of play, the Bayelsa United ‘Golden Boy’ was as usual handed a starting place in tough test against, Lobi Stars of Markurdi.

After struggling to grind out maximum points against, Kano Pillars on Matchday 26, Kehinde and his Bayelsa United side shifted its focus to Matchday 27 haven been drawn to face Lobi stars away from home.

After suffering a lose in Enugu at the Cathedral on Matchday 26, Lobi Stars returned home hoping to bounce back to winning ways, make up for the lost points when they trade tackles with Bayelsa United on Matchday 27.

First half of the game which ended in a barren draw witnessed the best of football artistry regardless nothing to separate the two side at half Time.

League Leaders and home side, Lobi Stars became the first to break the deadlock in the second half off the efforts of towering defenders, Chinedu Sunday at the 61st minute.

Failing to find a double, Lobi Stars who were found napping got punished at the 71st minute after sensational forward, Lawal Kehinde, made way into the opponents box to pull the strings, drawing the two sides level.

All efforts by Lobi stars to pull a come back proved abortive as Bayelsa United kept it solid to ensure a point on the road.

Bayelsa United sensational youngster, Kehinde Lawal, says they can pull off the strings when Bayelsa United trade tackles with Nigeria Professional Football League top ranking side, Lobi Stars In Nasarawa.

Lawal, who has brought both youth and experience with his dynamic style of play to the Bayelsa United squad shares his optimism ahead of the MatchDay 27 fixture.

“It has been a tough and interesting season for all teams in the NPFL, but this second half of the season has been a challenging one looking at the results week-in-week-out and the trend on the log.

“We showed resilience in our game against Kano Pillars at home and got rewarded with the points.

“Though Bayelsa United may not have had a good run in its last three matches after earning a deserved result in Kano, we hope to rejuvenate our season.

“As we did against Kano Pillars, we have to play the game of our lives in Nasaraw take the chances that come our way and be coordinated as a unit, ” stressed one of Bayelsa United top star.
