slug it out with Samjason U-14 in the inaugural edition of the Alimosho Football Coaches Council (AFCC) U-14 league today, 21st of December, 2023 at the Peace Arena Football Pitch, Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos.
The U-16 side of Fit2live recently won the U-16 version of the AFCC league going unbeaten in 14 Matches and will be hoping to make it a double triumph if they eventually succeed in edging Samjason U-14 today.
Speaking with the football director of Fit2live Alimosho on his expectations in today’s final, Coach Lanre Olojo-Kosoko in his words said ‘’There can only be two outcomes at the end of today’s game but whatever the outcome is, what I usually emphasise and teach my kids is at this level the lessons we learn from each game far outweighs the result or outcome. While we teach our kids to have a winning mentality, the emphasis for us is more on developing the players and making them a better player. So we will go into today’s game, hoping to give our best shot and if we end up being victorious better for us and if it goes the other way, we will take the valuable lessons and apply in future games and on improving the players individually to be better players’’ concluded Coach Lanre.
The President of the AFCC while responding to the impact of youth development in the Alimosho LGA, a LGA revered as the most populous Local Government Area in West Africa, Mr Uche Eke Elendu stated that the leagues which includes the U-16 league with the second edition concluded a couple of days ago has helped in creating competitive platforms through which talents from different youth football clubs in Alimosho get to compete which in turn will allow club owners, coaches and relevant stakeholders involved with the participating clubs to evaluate the development of their players through a competitive platform.
He further stated that the council will continue to create opportunities not just for footballers but all relevant stakeholders associated with the game including club owners and administrators and the seminar organised by the council which was recently concluded some days ago is a testament to what his council is seeking to achieve through capacity development for its members.
Before today’s final between Samjason and Fit2live, a third place match between White ST and Divine Stars will take place.
