Afeez Aremu: 1. FC Kaiserslautern Sign Nigerian Midfielder From St Pauli

The former Nigeria youth international has teamed up with the German second division outfit from the German second division campaigners, St Pauli.

1. FC Kaiserslautern have signed Nigerian midfielder Afeez Aremu from fellow German second division outfit, St Pauli for an undisclosed fee.

Prior to his move to Germany, Aremu had featured for Nigeria Professional Football League sides Rivers United, Remo Stars, Sunshine Stars, Akwa United before heading for Ghana’s Inter Allies.

Upon the completion of his contract in Norway – where he scored five goals in 63 games, he was snapped by Timo Schultz’s men from where he teams up with 1. FC Kaiserslautern after his contract extension expiration with St Pauli.

Speaking on the acquisition of the Nigerian midfielder, FCK Managing Director Thomas Hengen, stated that, Afeez is a very strong defensive player who brings a lot of athleticism and dynamism and therefore fits very well on the Betzenberg and our game idea. He will revive the competition in the midfield. We are sure that he still has a lot of development potential, although he was already able to gain a lot of experience in professional football at his young age,” describes FCK Managing Director Thomas Hengen the new addition to FC St. Pauli.

For the former Nigeria U20 star, It was important for me to take the next development step in my career. For this, the 1. FC Kaiserslautern as one of the most traditional clubs a top address. The discussions with those responsible were very good, I felt right at home here and I hope that I will get working hours in order to be able to make the season successful together with the team,” Afeez Aremu explained his change.

Heading into final whistle, Sparta Prague, showed off class as the pick their lead with an 90th minute goal, a goal which turned Cup wining goal for Sparta Prague.
