AFCON: Five (5) Super Eagles Midfield Options



Since the retirement of mercurial Super Eagles Midfielder, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, the Nigerian Super Eagles team till date is yet to find a suitable player in the class of the former PSG and Bolton Wanderers Midfielder.

Austin Jay Jay Okocha during his active days was a beauty to behold in the colours of the Nigeria National team as his exquisite dribbles, pocket passes and dead ball speciality made him stand out.

With the African Cup Of Nations and the ‘Mundial’ billed for next year, here are five (5) Midfield options who are capable of getting the Eagles Midfield back to its former glory.

1. KELECHI NWAKALI (Huesca, Spain)
The former U17 winner and skipper ranks amongst the midfield options available for selection as the Super Eagles team prepares to campaign in two continental competitions.

Since finding his lost form in the shirts of Huesca, Nwakali is a Midfielder who is able to get the Super Eagles Midfield buzzing again if given the opportunity to showcase his Asset.

2. RABIU IBRAHIM (Slovan Bratislava, Slovakia)
The petit mercurial Midfielder who plys his trade with Slovakian top-flight league giant’s, Slovan Bratislava, is one Midfielder up for selection ahead of the AFCON and the World Cup next year.

The former U17 star talent is in no doubts as he has proven it in the Nigeria cadet national team and in the Nigeria senior National team and deserves a place in the current Super Eagles team.

Blessed with killer pass instinct and eyes for goals, the Slovan Bratislava Midfielder is arguably a candidate for the Super Eagles Midfield role.

3. EBERECHI EZE (Crystal Palace, England)
The Nigerian eligible Midfielder is one Midfield option available for Selection as the Nigeria Senior National team prepares for the AFCON and World Cup slated for next year in Cameroon and Qatar respectively.

The sleeky Midfield maestro who can create things out of nothing on the field of play is one Midfielder who is needed to get the Eagles Midfield working again.

4. INNOCENT BONKE (Malmo FF, Sweden)
The Malmo FF Midfielder is one Midfielder option available for Selection as the team prepares for two prestigious Competitions on the continent.

The little known Nigerian eligible Midfielder is one Midfielder who is a good option for the Super Eagles Midfield set up.

The Aremnia based Midfielder who was voted the best player for his Clubside in the first round is arguably a untapped talent who can give the Super Eagles Midfield the much needed flair and depth.

Joshua Akpudje: Rock-Solid Nigeria Defender Listed In Erovnuli Liga TOTW



Highly rated Nigerian defender, Joshua Akpudje, has been listed in the Erovnuli Liga Team Of The Week following his stellar performance in FC Dinamo Tbilisi 2-0 home win over Samgurali.

Akpudje and his FC Dinamo Tbilisi side squared up against Samgurali in its first Matchday of the season hoping to start on the front foot with a victory when the two sides lock horns at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.

The keenly contested fixture had the host, FC Dinamo Tbilisi opening scoring at the 10th minute and doubled its lead at the 32nd second goal to end the first half infront and all maximum points at full time.

Rock-solid Nigerian defender, Joshua Akpudje, who lasted for all 90mins in the fixture was a beauty to watch as he marshaled the team backline expertly to ensure a win with a clean-sheet.

Joining FC Dinamo Tbilisi, Joshua Akpudje heartwarming display in the fixture against Samgurali earned him a place in the team of the week alongside other players who were outstanding with their various clubs.

Actions resumed over the weekend across many leagues as teams continue their quest for domestic and continental glory in various Matchdays.

In over a thousand games played across top leagues at the weekend, Nigerian players were outstanding with their various clubsides and here are (9) Nigerian stars who found back of the net at the weekend.

News: Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa terminates contract with Turkish top club Sivasspor




Ahmed Musa Parts Ways with Sivasspor FC by Mutual Consent

In a surprising turn of events, Nigerian international Ahmed Musa has ended his stint with Turkish giants Sivasspor FC. Both parties reached a mutual agreement to terminate the player’s contract, which was announced earlier last week.

Ahmed Musa, who’s known for his blistering pace and attacking prowess, joined Sivasspor with high expectations. He was deemed a significant addition to the team’s offensive line, with hopes that his experience at the top level would provide an edge in competition. His journey at Sivasspor, however, has come to an early conclusion.
