FDC Vista: Hope Of Glory Boss Bags Merit Award

Russian based outfit, FDC Vista has decorated the Chairman of Calabar based team,Hope Of Glory, Pastor Umoh Kufere Isaiah, with the award of ‘Sports Icon of the year’ following his gigantic strides in the area of youth development through sports (Football).

The award which was received by the Coach of the team, Coach Akeem, Gen had other top Nigerian football stakeholders in attendance.

Speaking with Nigeriasportsnews.com, FDC Vista Coordinator for Africa, Agent Ojo Paul Omamomo, Eulogized the Chairman of the Calabar based team for his contribution to the growth and development of football in Nigeria through his Calabar based club side, Hope Of Glory.

“We thought it wise to appreciate the Chairman of Hope OF Glory FC for his involvement in grooming football talents and giving them every needed platform and opportunity to excel”

“He has done all this through his personal funds and running football in Nigeria is a huge one and needs the recognition as he has been a role model to many Nigerian youths”

Created in 2019 in Gelendzhik, FDC Vista is the first unique project in Russia, which is aimed at supporting and developing the sports potential of students from different countries.

All players in the structure of the Center receive a high-quality training process under the guidance of specialists of the highest level

For the records, the Russian based side has been involved in the training and development of all most Eleven (11) prominent professional Nigerian stars plying their trade across top European leagues.

NSF Zonal elimination: Akwa Ibom 8-0 Rivers State, Akwa Ibom close in on Sports festival qualification

A highly spirited Akwa Ibom State male football team spanked Rivers State 8-0 in a South South Elimination match on Thursday October 6, to close in on qualification for the 2022 National Sports Festival.

From the blast of Referee Womi Sampson’s whistle, the Akwa Ibom lads pounced on their sorry Rivers State opponents in search of points to qualify for the Sports Festival after missing the last three editions.

Four goals in each half of the game at the Practice pitch of the Nest of Champions, Uyo gave Akwa Ibom State a huge +6 goal difference in the race for the second Qualification spot behind Bayelsa state .

Five states on Tuesday October 4, began the battle for two 2022 National Sports Festival slots in the Men’s football event of the South South zonal elimination .

At the time of this report, Bayelsa state lead the standings with 9 points , Akwa Ibom State are in second place with 6points and a +6 goal difference following two wins to recover from the disappointments of Wednesday .

Cross River state are 3rd with 6 points and a Zero goal difference , Edo and Rivers State who will face off in the last game are level on 3 points apiece in 5th and 6th spot respectively.

As it stands, Akwa Ibom will book a place in the 2022 National Sports Festival to be hosted by Delta state from November 18, 2022 except Edo State secures a 8-0 win over Rivers State or Rivers State defeats Edo State 13-0 .

Sports Minister inaugurates NBBF board

Nigeria’s sport minister Sunday Dare today inaugurated the board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja .

Dare charged the new board to lead an inclusive federation and reconcile aggrieved stakeholders in the best interest of the country.

“For the records, this is the only board recognised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and by extension, the Federal Government of Nigeria.

“Let that message go out clearly. To the President, the Vice-President and other members of the new board of the NBBF, the task of developing basketball is now under your watch, it now lies squarely on your shoulders.

“Our job at the Ministry is done. We expect you to deliver for our country, for our athletes and for basketball development. We believe that team work, understanding and cooperation are prerequisites for achieving the board’s goals and objectives.

“The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, having noted the situation around the basketball Federation has approved the elective Congress of January 21st, 2022 and its outcome, and that is why we are here today,” the Minister said

Speaking on behalf of the new board, the President Engineer Musa Kida thanked Hon. Sunday Dare for his advocacy towards resolving the 5-year long dispute which has plagued the administration of basketball in Nigeria.

The new Executives of the NBBF are : Engineer Ahmadu Musa Kida(President), Babatunde Ogunade(Vice President), Abba Kaka, Professor Yakassai, Professor Adeyanju, Adamu Deshi, Ugo Udezue, Okoro Victor, Olumide Oyedeji, Suraju Yusuf, Felix Awogu, Colonel Sam Ahmedu(retired) while Njoku Peter is the Secretary General.
