Weekend Review: 11 Nigerian Players Who Found Back Of The Net

The last weekend actions across Europe saw Nigerian players performing for their respective clubs.

There is a lot of positive showing from Nigerians abroad as many came through with goals and assists whilst some played pivotal role to their team success..

It was an encouraging weekend for Nigerian with a lot of top performances across the globe.

However, there are 11 players who worked hard to found back of the net.

1. Kingsley Eduwo (Al Arabi, Kuwait)
Eduwo came through big at the weekend to net a brace and assisted twice in Al Arabi 4-0 win.

2. Victory Beniangba (Genk, Belgium)
Beniangba Solitary Strike was all Jong Genk needed to fly pass Royal Excelsior Virton.

3. Ebuka Okoye (Al Ahli Tripoli, Libya)
Okoye sustained his debut routine as his scored in his first ever Apperance for Al Ahli Tripoli.

4. Gift Orban (KAA Gent, Belgium)

Orban found back of the net twice in Gent 3-3 stalemate, a brace in his debut for KAA Gent.

5. Sunday Adetunji (Shkupi, Macedonia)
Adetunji scored thrice as Shkupi claimed a big win against Žalgiris in a club friendly.

6. Abdulrahman Taiwo (Spartak Trnava, Slovakia)
Taiwo came through with his 4th league goal to help Tranava clinch maximum points.

7. Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England)
Kelz had a goal and assist to his name in Leicester City 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

8. Peter Onyekachi (HaSharon Football Club, Israel)
Onyekachi was the hero for his side as he scored his side only goal in the game.

9. Chukwudi Goodluck Igbokwe (Jong Gent, Belgium)
Igbokwe continued with his goal scoring form as he scored his side only goal in their 1-1 draw.

10. Samuel Akere (Botev Plovdiv, Bulgaria)
Akere was inspirational as his goal helped his side clinch a big 2-0 home win.

11. Victor Osimhen (Napoli, Italy)
The Prince of Napel fired another goal to help Napoli beat Cremonose.

The Nigeria Super Eagles after a long-while bounced back to winning ways following their 3-0 convincing win over Benin Republic in one of the 2025 African Cup Of Nations qualifiers played yesterday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

Following the team overall performance, one name, a Super Eagles player has been continually mentioned by Nigeria football enthusiasts across various social media platforms following his remarkable and solid performance against Benin Republic.

Boavista Futebol Clube of Portugal defender, Bruno Onyemaechi, is that one Super Eagles player who has been on the lips of many as some are yet to get over the incredible performance of the rock-solid defender.

Played out all 90mins, Bruno was an absolute beauty in the heart of the Eagles backline as he ran the show from the left-back position expertly.

After cutting his teeth in the game at Collins Edwin Football Club in his homeland, Born April 3rd 1999, Bruno journey to stardom started off after been scouted and discovered by top Portuguese Football Agent, Tiago Calisto, of the TGC Management.

Known for giving African players platforms to strive, Tiago Calisto facilitated the transfer of the then unheralded Bruno Onyemaechi from Collins Edwin to Portuguese club, Clube Desportivo Feirense.

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has earned a prestigious nomination for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, solidifying his claim as a top contender for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. The 26-year-old is the only African player on the 30-man shortlist, marking a milestone in his career following a remarkable 2023/24 season for both club and country.
